Sponsored by Boundary & 17th Group of Waltbn United Church Admission See and 25o WALTON The death occurred in Grey twp, on Monday, Feb, 25 of Mrs. Martha Knight in her ninetieth year, at the home of her son-in-law, James Mac- Donald, after an illness of several months, Born in McKillop twp., she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, James Bolger. In 1894 she was married to Andrew Knight and they farmed in Morris twp. until the death of her husband in 1936. She was a member of the Walton United Church. Surviving are two daught- ers, Laura, Mrs, Lew Armstrong, Morris twp., Edna, Mrs. Jaynes Mac- Donald, Grey twp. • 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs, Emily Pollard, and two broth- ers, James Bolger, Seaforth; Wm, Bolger, Laeadena, Sask. The funeral service was conduct- ed by the Rev. W. M. Thomas of Walton United Church, and inter- ment in the Brussels Cemetery. Mrs. Harold Smalldon of Walton, rendered a solo accompanied by Mrs, Harvey Brown, Blyth. Pallbearers were George Pollard, Harry Bolger, Harold Bolger, Mac Scott, Arthur McCall, Stewart 1440- Laughlin. The beautiful floral tri- butes were carried by Kenneth Mac- Donald, Donald MacDonald, Murray Huether, Gerald Watson, Charles Hollinger, Ross McCall, KIPPEN Mr, and Mrs. A. Gackstetter and girls attended the auction sale of Mr, Amos Ferguson, of Ilderton, on Thursday last. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Shipman and children •of Exeter were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. We are pleased to report that Mrs. Robert Thompson, who has been ill at the :home of her daughter, Mrs. Schneider of Stratford, was Able to return Home on Saturday last. Mr. and Mrs, Arnold Gackstetter and girls visited on Sunday with the latter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ferguson in St. Thomas. W.M.S. Hold World Day of Prayer The W.M.S. of St. Andrew's Unit- ed Church observed the World's Day of Prayer in the church on Friday last with Mrs. Emerson Anderson and Mrs. J. McLellan as hostesses. The Hillsgreen ladies were also pre- sent. The theme for the day, "Christ our Hope" was given by Mrs. Mc- Murtrie. Mrs. John Sinclair called Contract Barley the meeting to worship. The World's Day of Prayer •lrrogram was followed Mrs. W. Jarrott of Ilensall was guest soloist and she chose "When I need. Him" and "Wilt Thou 0 Lord For- give"' accompanied at the •piano by Mrs. R. Broadfoot, Miss Helen Love of Hillsgreen favored with a piano instrumental, "Sabbath Chime s". Prayers for the nations of the world were given by Mrs. A. Alexander; for the new Queen and members of the Royal family by Mrs. A. Me- Murtrie; for homes of our land and for our young people by Mrs. Harold Jones; for the Church Universal by Mrs, Jae McLellan; for all mission- aries by Mrs. A. Gackstetter, A shalt address was given by Mrs, Ro- bert Elgie, A short business meeting followed with the secretary, Mrs. Harry Cald- well extending thanks to the guest soloist and all who helped out In any way, Thankyou letters were read from Mrs. •Carl McClinohey, who has been ill; from Mrs. J. W. McLean for gift received for her Golden Wedding Anniversary and appreciation from the Workman family and the Sinclair faintly. Mrs. Sinclair pronounced the Benediction. All retired to the Sunday School room for a dainty lunch served by circle 1. We are pleased to report little Sandra Troyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Troyer, is able to be home following an appendix opera- tion in Clinton Hospital last week. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Eric Anderson on the gift of a daughter, in Clinton Hospital on Feb, 276. Mrs. James Donaldson and infant son of Cargill visited on, Thursday last with Mr. and Mrs. N. Dieckert, NIr, Art Long of Merriton spent the weekend with his father, Mr. and Mrs, Norman Long. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cudmore were recent visitors with the latter's brother in Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. Schneider of Strat- ford visited on Saturday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Robert Thomson. We are sorry to repeat that Mr. Norman Long is confined to St. Jo- seph's Hospital in London. Mr. and Mrs, Cornish and family of Goderich were recent visitors with the latter's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Robert Thomson. COLUMBAN Mrs. Mary Dalton, widow of the late John Dalton passed away on Feb. 18, at the hone of her daugh- ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowman after a lengthy ill- ness, The deceased was born on Sep- tember 25, 1866 and was married to John Dalton, who predeceaised her on March 27, 1935. Since his death she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Bowman. She is sur- vived by five sons and three daugh- ters: Jim of Milwaukee; John and Brother Joseph of Montreal; Con of Chicago; and Maurice of Hibbert; Mrs. Frank Pope of Kitchener; Mrs. John L. Malone and Mrs. Frank Bowman of McKillop; also two bro- thers and two sisters: Daniel of SL Columhan; Dick of Felon, Alberta; Mrs. Nell Feeney of Kitchener, and Mrs, Liz Downey of London. The funeral was held from the home of her daughter, Dors. Bowman, to St. Columban Church, where Re- quiem High Mass was sung by Father McCowell. Interment in St. Colum - ban Cemetery. Bell. STAFFA Mr, and Mrs, Garnet Taylor enter- tained family and friends on Friday evening, Feb. 29, in honour of the 88th birthday of her father,, Mr, John McClure. The evening was spent playing cards, winners being Mrs. James McClure, Mrs. Geo. Ber- nard, Kenneth Stevenson, Beverley Taylor and Art McClure. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess and. her daughters. The birthday cake was made by Mrs, Lloyd Armstrong, Garnet and Clarence Taylor enter- tained with music, Mrs. J. McClure at the piano.
