HURON COUNTY ANNUAL
SEED FAIR
"Plans are now completed for the
6th Annual Huron County Seed
Fair, which is to be held in the Clin-
ton District 'Collegiate Institute in
Clinton, on March 7 and 8, 1952",
it was announced by Mr. G. W.
Montgomery, Secretary - Treasurer
of the Huron Crop Improvement
Association. Mr. Montgomery point-
ed out that this year's show promi-
ses to be one of the outstanding ag-
ricultural events of the year. The
Huron Crop Improvement Associa-
tion has spared no efforts in trying
to insure the success of this show.
It is hoped that all farmers in the
county will interest themselves in it.

Mr. and Mrs. Walters of Goderich
visited recently with Mr, Sidney
MaoArthul`,
Mrs. Edwards was hostess at her
home Tues, evening for the regular
meeting of the Ladies' Assoeiation of
Cannel Presbyterian Church. Mrs.
W. 11. Bell, president, opened the
Pleating 'with prayer and scripture
reading followed by singing a hymn.
The devotional .period was closed
with Mrs. Fox leading in prayer. The
financial report for the past year
was given by the Secretary, Mrs,
John E. McEwen. Following the
business discussion, Mrs, Bell direct-
ed a contest and gave a reading. Re-
freshments were served at the •close,
Ml's: A. Crerar visited recently
with her brother and sister-in-law,
Mr, and Mrs. Ed, 'Mitchell in Lon-
don.
Mr. Donald MacArthur of London
is spending a week with his father,
Mr. Sidney MacArthur.
Mr, Ross Corbett is spending a
week at the home of his uncle, Mr.
Hugh Morenz at Dashwood. Mr.
Morenz underwent a tonsil opera-
tion in St, Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, on Monday,
Mr. John MacGregor, who under-
went a critical operation in St. Jo-
seph's Hospital, London, on Friday,
is slowly improving.
Mr. and Mrs, Edward Schroeder
and family were recent visitors with
Mrs. Schroeder's another, Mrs. Edna
Corbett,
The sympathy of the community is
extended to Mr. Russel Moore, whose
father, Mr, Frederick Moore, 70,
died at the Ruston Nursing Houle in
Mitchell on February 21st. Born in
Exeter the deceased lived in the
West and in Toronto for many years,
returning to Exeter in 1936. Ile was
a carpenter.
He is survived by his widow, a pa-
tient at the Ruston Nursing Home,
Mitchell, one son Russell, Hensall,
two brothers, William and Charles
in Saskatchewan. Funeral services
were conducted on Saturday by Rev.
H, J. Snell from the Dinney Funeral
Home, Burial in Exeter Cemetery,
Cornelius Cook, 73, Miller and
businessman of Hensall for 45 years
died at his home early on Thursday.
Born in Ellice Township, he was a
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Cook. At the age of 14 years he
started in the bicycle business, later
helping his father in the milling bus-
iness. When his father died in 1906
he went into partnership with his
brother, Mr. N. E. Cook, the business
being known as Cook Milling 'Co.
He also operated a garage, retiring
a year ago. A member of the United
Church, Mr. Cook was a member of
the choir of which he was treasurer
for over forty years, and also a
member of the board of trustees.
Surviving are his widow, formerly
Minnie Hemphill, one son, Harry of
Windsor, one daughter, Mrs. Morley
Ohelew, ,(Ola) of Los Angeles, Calif:,
three brothers, Norman, Hensall;
Charles and William E. Cook, of
Chicago, and five grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held
from the Bonthron funeral home on
Saturday at 2 p.m. conducted by
Rev. W. J. Rogers. Burial in Exeter
Cemetery.
Mrs. Edna Corbett spent a few
days last week at the home of her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Parker.
EGMONDVILLE
Mrs. John Young
Mrs. John Young, 83, who died
on Monday, Feb. 25 at her home,
Elgin Ave., in Goderich, ]had lived in
Colborne Township until coming
to Goderich four years ago. Her hus-
band died two years ago.
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs. John Patton, Colborne tw,p,;
Mrs. Frank Wilson, Goderich; Miss
Ruby Young, Goderich; and Mrs.
Stanley ;Dodd, Egmondville.
Funeral services were held at
the family residence at 2 p.m. Wed-
nesday, the Rev. D. W. Williams,
Victoria St. United Church, officiat-
ed. Interment in Colborne Cemetery.
KIPPEN EAST
The February meeting of the Kip -
pen East Institute was held at the
home of Mrs. Alex 'McGregor. Pres-
ident, Miss Grace Tremeer, was in
the chair. Two aninutes silence was
observed in memory of the late King.
All joined in singing the Damper
song. Roll call was answered by an
event in Canadian history. Current
events were given by Mrs. Camp-
bell Eyre. Two minute papers on an
important story of history were giv-
en by Mrs. Ivan Forsyth, Mrs. W.
McLean, Miss Margaret MacKay.
Several letters were read and a
card of thanks from Helen Turner.
The next dance is to be held in Hen-
sall town hall on March 13th with
music by the Ranch Boys. Little
John Slavin favored with a piano
instrumental. A paper on Abigal
Becker was given by Mrs. Stan
Jackson. Mrs. Ross Broadfoot favor-
ed with a piano instrumental. The
next meeting which is to be held at
No, 2 School was discussed. Staffa
Institute will be our guests. Mrs.
Ernie Whitehouse moved a vote of
thanks to hostess. The . meeting
closed with Abide with Me, and a
delicious lunch was served. A clean-
er demonstration was given after
the meeting.
