family of Brodhagen, Miss Joyce
Diego] Mr. Ralph fisher, Walton,
Mrs, Wm. Miller, of Brodhagen Mr.
and ma, Chas. Leenhardt of lien-

Sunday on the occasion of the bap-
tism of their baby, Brian Arthur.

Mr. and Mrs. David Grieve and
family of London were guests on
Sunday of Mrs. John Grieve.

over the weekend,

spent the weekend with friends in

Mr. and Mrs, Peter McIver attend-
ed the McDaid—Lane wedding in St.
Columban last Saturday.
Miss June Snell, Stratford, spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Helmer Snell.
Mr. Michael Bechely visited with
friends in Sarnia over the weekend.
Miss Yvonne Bolton, Stratford,

IRev. Thos, McQuaid, Toronto, vis-
ited with relatives in town last Sun-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Fleming, Goder-
ich St., left on Tuesday to make their
home in Simcoe.

practicing teaching in the Public
School this week—in Mr. Eastman's

Toledo, Ohio, spent the weekend
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J.

KIPPEN EAST
Mrs. John Sinclair was hostess to
the K.E,W.I. at her home for the
November meeting on Thursday the
23rd. With Mrs. G. McLean in the
chair the meeting opened by singing
the Institute Ode followed by the
Lord's Prayer in unison. All joined
in singing the "The Maple Leaf For-
ever". The roll call "Give a reason
why a wife should work in the fields
with her husband or why she should
not" was answered by 24 members.
There were also a number of visit-
ors present. Minutes -of the last meet-
ing were approved as read. A finan-
cial report on the euchre and dance
of Nov. 10 was given. The next dance
is the Christmas dance which will be
held on Dec. 22nd in the Hensel]
Town hall with the group frain the
2nd in charge. Will all those now
having books of -the Huron County
travelling Library, please have same
into Kyle's store before Dec. 2nd as
they are to be changed and a new lot
will be left,
It was moved that the Institute
send boxes to one of our own local
boys, Bernard Sandford,' who is un-
fortunately confined to the hospital.
The Dec. meeting which is the
Christmas meeting was discussed and
the members are asked to take to the
meeting a small gift not exceeding
50 cents in value for an exchange
among the members. The collection
will be for the Goderich Children's
Aid. The Secretary, Mrs. R. Chap-
man read a letter concerning the
short course on Work Shop and
Home Crafts. A thank -you letter was
read from Mrs. Harry Caldwell for

the privilege of being allowed to en-
joy the bus trip to Toronto, and the
Institute gratefully acknowledges a
donation of five dollars from Mrs.
Caldwell for the funds. A letter of
appreciation from the Broadfoot
family was read.
The members regret very much the
unfortunate accident suffered by
Mrs. Peck and hope it will not be too
long before she is able to meet with
us again.
Mrs, Will Snaith, from P%xeter,
gave a very interesting' talk on the
history of China and pottery, She
displayed throughout her talk some
very lovely pieces, and she warned
that each take care of her own
cherished pieces and not to burden
anyone else with its care. She told
the very beautiful story behind the
Blue Willow pattern and concluded
her talk with a humorous verse. A
vocal duet by Mrs. Jones and Mrs.
Gackstetter was much enjoyed , A
Quiz, Who's Who in Canada was con-
ducted by Mrs. Alexander, The Rev.
Mr, Hinton of Kippen was present
and spoke a few words to the ladies.
He was much appreciated. A report
from the district Director, Mrs. C.
Eyre was given on the meeting at
Crediton on Nov. 22nd. A vote of
thanks to the speakers and those tak-
ing part was moved by Miss Margar-
et McKay and to the hostess by Mrs.
W. McLean. The meeting closed with
God Save The King, A delicious
lunch was served by the hostess and
her committee.
LOGAN
Logan Council met at the Ball of
the Reeve to iron out what was to be
done at the Brodhagen M. Drain,
contractor having come into another
12" tile drain. Engineer J. A. Howes
was also in attendance. August Hille-
brecht was appointed Inspector on
said drain. Council then adjourned to
meet again at Clerk's Office on the
evening of Nov. 22nd. to consider
and read petition of signers for
street light service.
iOn the evening of Nov, 22, Council
met and also a good attendance of
ratepayers interested in the street
lights of the village. After ell were
given an opportunity to withdraw
their names and also those that wish-
ed to sign the said petition, it showed
that 27 had signed the same, a good
majority in favor of street lights.
Council •thereupon instructed the
Clerk to forward the result to the
H.E.P.C. with request for copies of
agreement and by-law.
Council at this meeting was serv-
ed by Nelson Haehnel witih notice of
intention to appeal and was appeal-
ing to the drainage Referee against
the allowance for compensation Lot
21, Con, 7. He also served notice
that he requests that the said drain
be further improved to the outlet by
deepening, widening or otherwise
improving the Logan road drain in
Lot 21. Con. 7, Clerk was instructed
to notify Eng. J. A. Howes and E. G,
Thompson, 'of the action.

In connection with street lights a
resolution was passed as follows.
"That this council assume the cost
of Installation for Brodhagen street
lights to be levied in three years."
By -Law No. 544 was introduced
and given two readings providing
for a grant of $1000.00 to the
Mitchell Arena in commemoration of
the officers and men who served in
the last war, Clerk instructed to for-
ward same to Department of Muni-
cipal Affairs for approval. Council
then adjourned.
CONSTANCE
Mr. and Mrs. Borden Brown and
daughters Joyce and Elaine were
guests for dinner on Sunday with
the former's parents, Mr, and Mrs.
Joseph Brown, Allen Park, and for
supper with Mrs. Brown's sister,
Mrs. George Campbell, also of Allen
Park.
Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Adams of
Londesboro visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Dexter on Monday.
The W.M.S. and W.A. will hold
their Christmas meeting in the
schoolroom of the church on Wednes-
day afternoon, Dec, 6th. A Christ-
mas program will be provided.
