Queen Of 'Kraut— Glamorous
16 -year-old Lola Mae Duitsman
was awarded a coveted but not
so glamorous title by the peo-
ple of Forreston, who named
her their Queen of Sauerkraut.
Lola will reign over a festival
to be climaxed with a meal con-
sisting of three tons of sauer-
kraut and a ton of wieners.
Striking Hat — At a recent
showing of hats that women
consider too foolish to wear,
first prize was awarded to this
creation, featuring 13 books of
matches, three packs of cig-,
arets, a champagne glass and
three cigars, Labeld "Stork
Club," the hat was adorned
with a tiny, top -hatted stork.
Edible Mascot — Where Cpl.

Flat Answer—Here's what Robert Thomas, of Mantes, France,
showed at the International Exposition of Inventors at Porte
de Versailles, as the answer to motorists' prayers—a flat tire
supporter. It's a four-part side-wall clamp that supports the
flat until the car can reach a garage. No jack is needed. One of
each two parts is attached to the top of the wheel. The flat -
tired car is rolled on this half and the second half is put on.

The current tad of cluttering up automobile dashboards and windshields with fuzzy gew-gaws, perhaps to
amuse children, presents a serious, hazard to good vision and safe driving, say traffic safety experts. The
monkey -doll dangling in front of the driver's .syei along with spring -mounted birds, dolls and other
gadgets, is practically obscuring from view a ear about to enter the highway just ahead. A moment earlier
it would have completely obscured two people who can now be seen walking across the road. Besides getting
in the driver's line of sight, these dangling doodads, being made so that they jiggle all the time, add greatly
to the strain of driving a car.
