Miss Pamela Williams has returned
to Detroit after; a month's visit with
her cousin, Mrs, Leo Fortune.
Captain Morrow of the Salvation
Army entertained in honour of Lieut.
Margaret Deacon on Monday evening
at a personal shower. Mrs. John Ste-
vens and Miss Ethel Storey assisted
with the program. Lieut Deacon re-
ceived many beautiful gifts and
thanked her friends in a beautifully
worded message, 'Lieut Deacon
leaves for her home in Nova Scotia
on Wednesday.
Misses Lois Hoggarth and Lorna
Ellis were in Guelph en Saturday at-
tending the rugbyame between
Guelph O.A.C. and Western Colts.
Mr, John Wilson, Auburn, spent
last week with his daughter, Mrs,
Harold Nicholson.
Mrs. Wm. Anderson of McKillop
is seriously 111 in Scott Memorial Hos-
pital.
Mac Munro, son 'of Mr, and Mrs.
Erie Munro is .confined to Scott
Memorial Hospital,
Mr, and Mrs. John (Cellar have re-
turned froma motor trip to West
Virginia, Tennessee and 'Chicago,
where they visited friends and rela-
tives. While in Chicago Mr. Kellar at-
tended the convention of the United
States Independent Telephone Asso-
ciation.
Mr. and Mrs. Verne Dale and fam-
ily of Constance spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac MoGavin,
Seaforth,
Mr. Louis Hoei'y was removed to
the hospital on Monday evening suf-
fering from a heart attack.
The Presbyterian Ladies Aid are
holding a bazaar in the basement of
the church on Nov. 4 at 8 o'clock.
Visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Wil-
liam Murray, Egmondville, on Tues-
day were Mr. and Mrs. Art Fisher,
and Alex Ward and daughter, all of
Dauphin, Manitoba Mr. Ward is a
brother of Mr. W. J Ward, M.P. of
Dauphin, and Mrs. Fisher is a sister
Mrs. Alice Styles is visiting in Tor-
onto with Mr. and Mrs. Scott Coffin.
Miss Helen Devereaux, London,
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Devereaux.
Mr. Geo. Israel of Toronto spent
the weekend with friends in town,

Mrs. Henry Koehler celebrated her
85th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 15th.
Among those present for the occasion
besides Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koehler
were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Steinack-
er, Harry and .Joyce. Mr. and • Mrs,
George Richards and Kenneth of
Stratford; Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Koeh-
ler and sons of Egmondville. We wish
her many happy returns of the day
Miss Shirley Kleber of Seaforbh,
who recently underwent an operation
is recuperating at the home of her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Hoeg -y.
Mr. Harry R,egele and bride, the
former Luella Taylor, returned home
on Sunday from -their wedding trip
through the Western Provinces as
far as the Coast. On their return
they came through the U.S.A. On
Monday night they were pleasantly
greeted by a lively gang of char,-
variers..

lerton were recent visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Koehler.
Mr. and' Mrs. Dan Lohr of Listowel
were .Sunday visitors with the form-
ers cousin, Mrs. Eggert and Mr. C.
Eggert.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Scott of Lon-
don spent Thanksgiving With Wilmore
Scott and Mrs..Scott's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. David Papple.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken 'Harrison and
boys. Beverly. and Barry, Brantford,
spent Sunday with Wilmore.Scott
and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Scott and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harrison.
Quite a number from this line were
at the ploughing match last week.
'The October meeting of the Bethel
W. A. and W. M. S. was held at
the home of Mrs. Roy Wildfong.
Mrs. Leeming, the president, presid-
ed for the meeting and the theme
was "Christ's disciples bring right".
Hymn 252 'SIn Christ there is no
East or West" was sung and Rev. H.
E. Livingstone led in prayer. Mrs.
Leeming read the meditation and a
prayer for guidance was read in uni-
son. Miss Ruth Boyd gave a splendid
report of the few days spent at Alma
College at the school for leaders.
Mrs. Earl Mills and Tennie Dennis
presented the second chapter of the
study book "The United Church re-
enters Japan through reinforcements"
The meeting closed with a hymn and
prayer. Mrs. C. Boyd presided for the
'W.A. 'The minutes of last meeting
were read and adopted and the roll
called. ,The Autumn Thankoffering
will be held in the Church on Nov. 2,
with neighbor societies as guests and
Mrs. 'Grierson will be guest speaker.
Lunch committee, Mrs. J. Thornton,
Mrs. N. Stimore, and Mrs. C. Boyd.
Nominating Committee,, Mrs. N. Sti-
more, Mrs. Wm. Roe and Mrs. Roy
Wildfong. The meeting closed by
singing and prayer by Rev. FL E. Liv-
ingstone.
TUCKERSMITH
A funeral mass was sung for Mrs,
F. W. C. Miller, 48, of Tuckersmith,
at St. 'James Roman Catholic Church
at 10:00 o'clock on Monday morn-
ing. Mrs. Miller died Friday in Scott
Memorial. Hospital where she had
been a patient for a long period. Mrs.
Miller was born and educated at
Porter's Hill, daughter of the late
Mi'; and Mrs. Harry Young, She mov.,
ed to Tuckersmith about 23 years ago
and had been in poor :health for the
past 10 years She was married in
1927 and is survived by her husband,
one adopted son, Peter Etue, and one
brother, Charles S. Young, Goderich
Township. The requiem 'high mass
was celebrated by Rev. E. P. Weber
and burial was in St. James cemetery.
Paulbearers were Arthur Varley,
James Black, James Landaborough
Maurice Etue, Art Devereaux anti,
Frank Reynolds.

will hold a home -baking sale in
