tion was drawn to the Chamber of
Commerce frolic on Wednesday,
September 27. The Institute mem-,
bers will operate a booth at this af-
fair, proceeds for the Chamber of
Commerce funds, on notions of Mrs.
Edna Corbett and Miss Phyllis Case.
The following were named as a com-
mittee in addition to the above
names, Mrs. Beer, Mrs. Parke. Mrs.
Jas. Paterson. These ladies will add
workers to their list and complete
plans for operating the booth. The
president disclosed that at a later
date a move will be made to stage a
couple of Institute Community nights
in order to raise money for the or-
ganization.
During holiday period the mem-
bers have lost trace of the "travel-
ing" apron. Would the member hav-
ing this apron please give same to
Miss Gladys Luker, Sec.-Treas., as
son as possible. This would be
greatly appreciated.
It was suggested that the total
membership be divided into four
groups, each group to be responsible
for the raising of talent money to
add to the Institute Funds
The contributions of clothing and
money for the Goderich Children's
Aid Society were gratefully acknowl-
edged by Mrs. Johns of Woodham,
Acknowledgement was made of. the
$15.00 donation contributed to the
Ontario Woolen's institute Manitoba
Flood Relief Fund by the Hensall In-
stitute in June. The .National An-
them followed. The entertainment in-
cluded euchre and other games,
Prize winners were Mrs. Walker Car-
lisle, Mrs. A. E. Munn, Mrs. J. Pat-
erson, Mrs. Logan, Mrs. Edwards.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bonthron re-
turned from a pleasant motor trip to i
the Maritimes.
William E. Pfaff
Mr, William E. Pfaff passed away
M Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, i
on Sunday in his 70th year. Born at
Hillsgreen he carne to Hensall, 58
years ago. For many years he was
engineer at Urquhart's mill and later
manufacturing cement blocks and
tile. He was a member of Carmel
Presbyterian Church. Surviving are
ane son Ray, St, Catharines, two
daughters, Mrs. Robt. Elgie, Kippen
and Alice of Exeter, two brothers
John, Hensall; George, London, and.
one sister Miss Emma Pfaff.
Funeral service was held from the
home of his daughter, Mrs. Robt.
Elgie, Kippen, on Tuesday, conducted
by Rev. P. A. Ferguson. Interment
in Hensall Union Cemetery.
Mrs. William Coleman
Funeral services for Mrs. William
Coleman, 84, who died at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Milton Stewart,
Seaforth, was conducted on Thurs-
day at 2 p.m. with interment in Bay-

Plensall Institute
The opening fall meeting of the.
Hensall Institute in the form of a
potluck supper took place in the Le-
gion room on Monday night Sept. 18.
Following a tempting luncheon Mrs.
Beer presided for a short business
session. The opening exercises con-
sisted of the Ode and the Lord's
Prayer, minutes read, roll call and
collection taken. The secretary read
"Thank -You" notes from Mrs. Geo.
Armstrong, Mrs. A. D. McEwen and
Mrs. J. MacBeath. The exhibits of
shell work, fancy cushion, a cotton
quilt, a hooked rug, and knitted lace
-Pee 'Teter 'Fair were discussed. Mrs.

lie Hospital on August 28 of one who
had been a resident of Bayfield for
48 years, in the person of Mrs. Agnes
Currie.
Born in Tuckersmith, May 8, 1868,
the deceased woman was a daughter
of the late William and Janet Nichol-
son. In 1890 she was married to Sam-
uel James Currie and they resided in
Clinton before coining to Bayfield.
Mr. Currie died in March 1904, leav-
ing his widow with a young family of
four girls and two boys -Jennie May,
Laura Florence, Harvey James, Ken-
neth Freeborn Irene Catherine and
Mary Elizabeth.
Of a quiet, retiring disposition,
she was devoted to her family. Mrs.
Currie managed her own hone until
the last few years when, due to fail-
ing health, her daughters took turns
in caring for her. Mrs. Gerald Hulley
was with her when she fell on the
stairs at her home on Friday evening,
August 18, and sustained a broken
hip, which necessitated her removal
to Clinton Hospital.
Surviving are three daughters:
Laura (Mrs. Thomas M. Castle), Bay-
field; Irene (Mrs, Wilbert MoBride)
Kitchener, and Mary (Mrs. Gerald
Hulley), Brantford; also a sister,
Mrs. Bert Beck, Bayfield. Her eldest
daughter, Mrs. David Gemmell, Tuck-
ersmith, died in 1924 and two sons
Harvey and Kenneth were killed in
action in World War I.
The funeral which was very large-
ly attended was held from her late
residence on Tuyll St. on August 80.
Rev, Peter Renner, pastor of St.
Andrew's United Church, of which
the deceased woman was a member,
conducted the service and interment
was made in Bayfield Cemetery. The
pallbearers were grandsons: Thomas
Castle, Gavin Gemmell, Robert Mc-
Bride, Beverley, Kenneth and Gary
Hulley.
Those from a distance who were
present for the funeral included: Mrs.
Eva Harvey, Mrs. Harriet Crittenden,
Mrs. Fred Weston, Detroit, Mieh. ;
Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Winhold, Lon-
don; BeverleyHulley. Gerald Hulley,
Brantford: Knneth Hulley, ,Mitchell;
Mrs. Kenneth Huras, Stratford; Miss
Mary McBride, Hamilton; Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbert McBride, Honey Har-
bor; Mr. and Mrs. Walter. McBride,
Exeter; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lee, Mr.

necklace and carried a bridal bou-
quet of Better Times roses and baby's
breath with satin streamers. The
bride was attended by Miss Hilda
Eickmeyer, sister of the bridegroom,
wearing a floor -length gown of blue
taffeta with flared skirt and sweet-
heart neckline and a gold locket. Her
flowers were a shower bouquet of
pink Delight roses and African lilies,
Mr. Gordon Aikens, Dublin, brother
of the bride, was best man. A recep-
tion and wedding dinner was held at
the bride's home, which was decorat-
ed with pink and white streamers
and bells. The bridal table was cent-
red with a three-tier wedding cake,
lighted white tapers in silver candel-
abra and white asters. The bride's
mother received dressed in navy blue
flowered silk faille with corsage of
carnations and asters, She was assist-
ed by the mother of the bridegroom,
wearing blaok faille with corsage of
pink carnations and asters. Mrs.
George Chowen, Miss Auleen Moore
and Miss Maxine Chowen assisted in
serving. For a honeymoon trip to the
United States, the bride donned a
wine gabardine suit with gray ac-
cessories. On their return Mr. and
Mrs. Eicknieyer will reside on the
bridegroom's farm in Logan town-
ship. Guests were present from Dub-
lin, Staffa, Mitchell and other places
in the district.

The parsonage of Main Street
United Church, Mitchell, was the
scene of a pretty wedding on Satur-
day, Sept. 16, at 12 o'clock noon
when Rev. A. 11. Johnston united in
marriage Ila Ann Myrtle Aikens,
daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Irvine Ai-
kens, Montreal St., Mitchell, and Mr,
Harold Louis l2iekmeyer, son of Mr.
and Mrs, George Eickmeyer, Hill. 4,
Mitchell. The bride looked lovely
wearing a gown of white slipper satin,
made with bertha collar, with nylon
yoke and lily point sleeves, The
flared skirt extended into a slight
train, Her finger-tip veil of silk illu-
sion was caught in a coronet of seed
