A mobile crane took care of the heavy work of launching and
taking the speed boats ottt of the lake. The crane is equipment
of the Department of Ilighways.

speedy little craft has just com-
pleted a tuueup for the next
heat.
The boat races were not the only attraction. The two pretty
mermaids above, who are summer residents of Bancroft entered
the girls' one-quarter mile swimming race. Left to right are
Shirley Howes and Shirley Robertson. They placed first and
second respectively.

A group of spectators take advantage of the shade from the Baptiste railway station. Two boys
have selected the best vantage point, but not the coolest.
Looking from the railway tracks paralleling the shore line of Lake Baptiste, th e power boats are just a line of foam and spray as they circle the marker buoys.
Along the far shore line can be seen stunner co ttages with the heavy forest their background.
