after spending a couple of weeks with
friends in Barrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Grattan Flannigan
and family, Hamilton, spent the week
end at their summer home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hamiltou, Wing -
ham, spent the week end at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A.
Whitney.
Miss June Snell has returned after
spending a week's holidays with rel-
atives in Toronto.
Misses Evelyn and Marilyn. Mea'ee
are visiting friends in Detroit.
Miss Shirley McFee of Senile
spent the week end with her mother.
Mrs. Fraiser and daughters Muriel,
Audrey and Barbara are visiting her
daughters, Mrs. Riutoul and Mrs.
Gingerich, in Kitchener,
Mr, and Mrs. Allen Nicholson have
moved into Mrs. R. Kennedy's apart-
ment.
Mr. John Hay of Cromarty was a
guest recently of Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
Aldington.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert Dunlop of
Vancouver, B.C„ and Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Dunlop and daughter Kathleen,
of Kinistino, Sask., were guests at
the home of their aunt, Mrs. Walter
Rogerson, the past week.
Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs,
Hugh Sproat were Mrs. Jane Rowan
and Mr. P, Taber, Detroit,
Mrs. J. Ellis, and Wayne are
spending a week's holiday in Port
Albert.
Mrs. P. Taber and son Hugh and
Mrs. Pat Barry and sons Michael and
Dennis returned to Detroit on Sun-
day. 'Weekend visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kelly were Mr.
and Mrs. Ed. Caskanette and family,
Woodstock, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Farwell, St. Clements.

spent the weekend at the home of
their mother, Mrs. Anne Nolan.
'Misses Mary and Irene Crowe, Lon-
don, spent the weekend at the home
of their brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. E. Crowe.
Mrs. E. Y. Mulvale and son James,
Sarnia, are holidaying this week at
the home of her sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McMillan.
Miss Nancy Scoffield, Detroit, is
holidaying at the home of her grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Case.

spent the weekend at the home of her

LOGAN
On July 24th, Logan Council met
at 8 o'clock p.m. All members being
present, the Reeve presided, main
business being reading and consid-
eration of Eng. McGeorge report en
the Main Ritz 'Drain, the report bo-
ing read and considered. It was re-
solved that the said report be adopt-
ed as read, Bill No, 528 was then
presented as prepared by the clerk,
and provisionally adopted,
Court of Revision on assessments
appeals (if any) was set for Aug. 14
at 7 pan.
The Clerk was instructed to adver-
tise for tenders. (1) for the con-
struction of the Connelly and Ritz
Drain branches, Connelly branch esti-
mate 0,150 cu, yds; Ritz branch 3,-
340 eu. yds; total estimates $1,550.;
and $900.00 one tender required for
this part, ;(2) Main Ritz Drain esti-
mate 15,000 cu. yds. $4,000.00.
Cheques of $300.00 must accompany
each tender as security tenders will
be opened at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and
contract awarded subject to appeals
'(if any).
Resolution was passed instructing
the Clerk to forward application to
the Ontario Municipal Board to
spread payment of Maintainer over
a period of two years.
Clerk instructed to forward fee
and application to the Ontario Muni-
cipal Board for authority to finally
pass bills No, 527, Connelly -Ritz
Drain branches and Bill No. 528,
Main Ritz Drain and the issue of
Deb. for same,
Reeve Gaffney reported that he
had consulted Eng. McGeorge re-
quests by ratepayers to have a por-
tion of the N. West Drain above Con.
10-11 improved, Eng. McGeorge was
not present end no action was taken.

The Decoration Services held at the
Evangelical Church here on Sunday
were very well attended. Rev. Led-
erman had charge of services and
preached a very able sermon. Mrs.
Lederman and Mrs. Elmer Koehler,
the soloists, were much appreciated.
Friends were present from Blyth,
Seaforth, Mitchell, Stratford, Ellice,
Fullerton and from this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rock and child-
ren, Mrs. Chas. Eggert were at Brus-
sels one day last week.
Mr. Ross Leonhardt, Miss Nita By-
erman spent weekend at Sarnia with
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rose.
'We are sorry to report that Mrs.
Henry IWeiterson fell recently severe-
ly inuring her hip.
lMr. and Mrs. Cecil Franks of Pres-
ton were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Koehler.
Mr. Irvin Flock received word that
his sister Mrs. Bolger and son Ken-
neth were in Listowel Hospital, se-
verely injured in a car accident on
Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. 'McKenzie of De-
troit were weekend visitors with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoegy.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rock were at
Listowel on 'Monday to visit his sist-
er in Hospital there

ers drive. At a curve in.the road the
mind of the drinking driver was not
working fast enough. His car left
the centre of the road, veered to
the right, crashed into a farmer's
milk stand and then careened into
the ditch an the other side of the
road. No one was hurt. The car was
badly battered. The driver was
stumbling around in a drunken daze.
