Death came peacefully on Sunday
afternoon, April 2nd, to Mrs. Robert
C. McGowan, esteemed resident of
East Wawanosh township, -when she
passed away in her sleep at her home
on the 3rd concession. She was in her
81st year.
Before her marriage Mrs. !McGow-
an was Maggie Jane Murdoch, daug-
hter of the late bit'. and Mrs. John
Murdoch, of Ashfield township. She
married her now bereft husband on
January 18, 1894,, and in January of
this year the family was all home to
help them celebrate thein 55th wed-
ding anniversary.
Besides her husband she is surviv-
ed by four daughters, Mrs. Oharles
R. (Mary) Coultes, Belgrave; Mrs.
Fred (,Dixon) Reid, Varna; Mrs.
Wilen Prime Minister Nehrn
visited Washington the Indian em-
bassy broke an old tradition. In-
stead of sewing liquor to its guests
it served fruit juices and dates.
It's about time that some one°chal-
leitged the tyranny that alcohol has
imposed on society. Intoxicating
beverages have demoralized too
many social gatherings turning
them into loud and loose drinking
sprees. It would go a long way to-
wards the solving of the problem
of alcoholism if all social gather-
ings in high plates were non al-
coholic.—Advt.
