The first meeting of the newli re-
organized Londesboro Women's In-
stitute was held in the 'Community
hall on Thursday afternoon, April 6.
Mrs. Radford of Clinton played the
piano while the ladies were assemb-
ling. Mrs. R. Fahservice, the Presi-
dent, was in the chair. Meeting open-
ed by two verses of 0 Canada. The
Institute Ode and the Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. Scrimgeour, Blyth, installed the
new officers and Mrs. Radford fa
voured . with an instrumental. Mrs.
Bennett, wife of the Agriculture re-
nresentative of 'Clinton sang two
lovely solos, "Morning" and At
Dawning" The story of the let Insti-
tute at Stoney Creek was given by
Mrs. Fangrad, her mother being a
Charter member of that Institute,
and an account of the 50th anniver-
! sar'v, which Mrs. Fangrad attended.
The roll call was answered by paying
of fees. A number of suggestions
were given as to what the members
would be most interested in the
coming year. Phyllis MdCool sang a
solo "Forever and Ever", this was
followed by a short sine' -song led by
Mrs. Brenton, Donald Giease sang a
solo followed by an amusing duett

Margaret Brophy of C.K.N.X. was
uresent and rave us a very pleasing
talk on "Publicity". IMrs. Radford
rave an instrumental followed by
God save the King. A delicious pot-
luck supper was served in the base-
ment of the hall.

Quite a large congregation assem-
bled on 'Easter 'Sunday morning for
the special service in the form of a
•cantata, "`Claudia," a three act
drama. It was very inspiring. Those
in the east were Miss Doreen Arm-
strong:, Gail Manning, Mrs. T. Allen
and Mrs. 0. Vincent, Mt C. Vincent,
Harry Lear, Grant Snell, Jack Web-
ster, Kenneth Wood. •Mrs. Brenton

Friendship Circle Meet
The Friendship Circle met in 'the
Sunday School room on Monday even-
ing. Mrs. William Bell presided and
opened the sleeting with a hymn. The
Scripture reading, St. John, chapter
20, verses 1-20, was given by Mrs.
Harold Jones, Mrs, Hinton led in
prayer. In the absence of the secret-
ary Miss Helen Turner, Mrs. A, Gack-
stetter read the minutes of the last
meeting. The next meeting will be
held on April 24th, The committee,in
charge are Mrs, Harold Jones, Mrs. W.
Alexander, Eldon Jarrott and Joe Mc-
Lellan. Miss Edith Love of Varna
favored with a piano instrumental.
Donald Kyle then sang two pleasing
solos, "April Showers" and ' I want
a girl just like the girl that married
clear old Dad," Mrs. Ross Broadfoot
and Mrs. John Sinclair .presented a
piano duet, Mr. Janes M. Scott of
Seaforth, showed his pictures of his
recent trip to England, Scotland and
France, which were enjoyed by all.
Between Olins Jack Caldwell gave
piano instrumentals. Mrs. Ross Broad -
foot moved a vote of thanks to Mr.
Scott. Don Bell then favored with two
solos, Eastern Parade, and Bless This
House, Mrs. R. Peck then conducted
two contests, atter which lunch was
served in the basenment. The sleeting
closed by singing the national an-

It was regretted that Mr. and 'Mrs,.
Armstrong and Alice were unable to
attend the meeting owing to the death
of a relative, Mr. and 1VIrs. Armstrong
and Alice are leaving this week for
their new home near Mitchell.

Friendehip.Circie presented them with
a beautiful table lamp and an aceom•
paning address at their home on
Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong and
Alice have made many friends in this
community and will be greatly missed
in the church here.

The Easter'.thankoffering meeting
of the Woman's Missionary SocietY
of Duff's United Church, Walton,
was held on Good Friday evening.
This was a very appropriate service
With the worship period under the
leadership of Mrs. ,Martin, an Easter,
meditation written by Nellie Mc-
Clung (We remember, We rejoice,
We resolve). Mrs. Martin was as-
sisted in this part of the service by
Mrs.' Watson, Mrs. Reid and Mrs.
iSchade. A pageant was presented,
"Froin Strength to Strength," which
had in the first act the union of the
three uniting churches, Methodist,
Presbyterian and 'Congregational.
The second act gave an account of
the work done during the 21 yearaa
since union, both at home and
abroad,
This made a very lhepressive ser-
vice all through and the various
characters well taken. Mucic credit 4s

ed the pageant.
Ladies from Winthrop, Brussels
and Moncrieir auxiliaries were pre-
sent and a dainty lunch was served
at the close.
Mr. George Kirkby and son tan
from Burwash are spending their
Easter holidays at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. H. B. Kirkby.
Mr, Lew Kirkby and family .from,
London also visited on Faster Sunday
at the parental home..
Easter Sunday services, at Duff's
United were welt attended and two
very fine services were held. In the
morning Rev. G. Hazlewood preached
a splendid Easter sermon, and there
was special music by the choir.
In the evening • au Easter Cantata
was presented with the choir taking
the, musical part and various meni,
bers the drama. In all they were two
very fine Easter services.'+

The W. M. S. met on Wednesday
afternoon, April 5, at the Manse for

Field Crop Competition with Registered Beaver Oats.
Nine bushels of grain will be supplied to each competitor
at $1.60 per bu. (Enough to sow a minimum of three acres)
A competition is also being sponsored for Husking
Corn, DeKalb #56, or Funks G 35 bu seed to be supplied
to each competitor.
