HENSALL
Mrs. Bowden of Exeter visited last
week with her daughter Mrs. John
Farquhar.
Mr. Alf Taylor, who has been con-
fined to his room owing to illness is
somewhat improved.
Miss Margaret McAllister, well-
known resident of Hensall, passed
away at her home on Tuesday follow-
ing a heart attack. Funeral arrange-
ments are not yet complete.
Hensall Institute
A worthy representation of mem-
bers and guests attended the regular
monthly Hensall Institute meeting
in the Legion room on Wednesday
night, March 8th when Mrs., Wm.
Brown and Mrs. A. Orr were capable
hostesses. Mrs. Beer, the president,
presided for the meeting which open-
ed with the Ode, the Creed and the
Lord's Prayer. Each member was
asked to raise talent money through-
out
hroughout the year. In response to the roll
call this particular collection was re-
ceived, each answered as to how
amount was made. At date of writ-
ing the total amount taken was
$38.76. Mrs. A. Shirray efficiently
presented the motto entitled "To do
all the good we can in every way we
can, to all people we can". Mrs.
Goddard contributed a pleasing
piano solo. During the business ses-
sion it was disclosed that 13 beauti-
ful crib quilts had been completed
for the London War Memorial Child
ten's Hospital. These were displayed.
Mrs. Beer voted thanks to Mrs. Geo.
Armstrong, Mrs. Alex Mousseau and
Mrs. Stewart Bell, committee in
charge, also the many kind ladies
who made possible these results.
Mrs. Armstrong reported on the
buying of supplies etc. Mrs. Shirray
very kindly volunteered to attend to
transportation of quilts. Mrs. A.
Kerslake, Miss A. Consitt, Mrs. E.
Cook were named a nominating
committee to present at the next
meeting the slate of officers for the
coming year. Thank -you notes were
received from Mrs. J. Flynn, Iblrs,
H. Workman and Mrs. A. D. Mc-
Ewen. "Believe me of all those en-
dearing Young Charms" was sung.
Mrs. Blackwell favored with an ap
propl'iate reading. Unusual interest
was shown in the outstanding demon-
stration provided by Miss Dozois and
Mr. Cornish of Goderich, represent-
ing the Singer Sewing Machine Co.,
Many new and modern sewing meth-
ods were introduced. Regular collec-
tion taken. Cards were enjoyed by
those uninterested in sewing. Mrs.
Parke and Mrs. Walker Carlisle will
he hostesses for the April meeting.
Mr. Bennett of Clinton, Agriculture
Representative, will be guest speak-
er. A film will he featured. A hearty
vote of thanks was extended to all
by Mrs. No'minton. To close the
successful evening a social hour was
enjoyed by all under the direction
of the hostesses and their assistants.
