Refreshments were served by the hostess and committee in charge, WALTON Mrs. Fern Patterson has re- turned home after a month's visit with relatives in Toronto, Miss Barbara Patterson, nurse -in -training . at Stratford General Hospital spent the week- end at her home here, The W.M.S. net in the church on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 2, with the 9th of Morris Group presenting the missionary pro- gram. Mrs, Cuthill acted as lead- er of the group and gave a study on church membership in India. A very helpful Christmas Wor- ship was presented and slate of officers brought in for 1955. In spite of stormy weather quite a goof] attendance was recorded. WINTHROP The W. A. and W.M.S. of Ca- van was held on Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the church, Mrs. J. McClure presided for the W. A. and opened the meeting with a poem, Hymn 51 was sung, The scripture lesson taken from Luke chap. 2 was read by Mrs. McClure. With Mrs. W. Dodds presiding for the W.M.S., the meeting was opened with a suitable poem followed by prayer. A reading on Baby Jesus, was given by Mrs. G. Smith. A presentation of Life Membership certificates was given to Mrs. T. Betties, Ml's. .J. Pethick, Mrs. T, Pryce, Hymn 381 was sung. Mrs. G. Case was in charge of the Xmas program. which was a Candle ceremonial. Those taking part in the service were Mrs. B. Toll, Mrs. A. Alexander, Mrs. R. Mc- Clure, Mrs, G. Case and Nil's, J. McClure. The offering was re- ceived and response sung. Hymn 63 was sung and closing prayer repeated in unison. Lunch was served by Circle 3. McKILLOP A very successful year was en- joyed by the Woman's Mission- ary Society and Woman's Asso- ciation of Bethel United Church. Encouraging reports were given by the secretaries of each de- partment , The Christmas pro- gram in the Missionary Monthly was followed with Mrs. Earl Mills as the leader, Mrs. H. •K. Livingstone and Mrs. Chas. Boyd assisted in. the candle ceremonial. Prayers were offered by Mrs. Ralph McNichol, Mrs. Glen Mc- Nichol and Mrs. Alex Dennis. The study book chapter was ta- ken by Mrs. Leonard Leeming and Mrs. Ross Leeming, A re- port of the Temperance sleeting held in Varna was given by Rev, Mr. Livingstone. Congratulations were extended to Mrs. David Boyd, who was present at the meeting, on the occasion of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd's 67th wedding anniversary, Donations were made to the Victor Home, the Hurricane Relief Fund and the Temperance Federation. The members of Amber Re- bekah Lodge are holding a home -baking sale in the club rooms of the Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3. o'clock. Home-made candy, Christmas cake and sale of aprons will be featured at this sale, Rebekahs Plan Christmas Party. The regular meeting of Amber Rebekah ,.,odge #349 was held on Wednesday evening in the Lodge rooms, with N. G. Miss Mabelle Whiteman presiding. The treasurer, Mrs. Olga Chip chase gave a report on the pro- ceeds of the banquet catered to by the Lodge.. Mrs. Leona Parke reported on the meeting held in Exeter in the interests of ,the prevention and 'treatment of cancer.
