HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
The girls will get their chance
this Friday when there will be •a
Sady Hawkins dance. It will be
a hard times dance and the
amount you pay will be the same
as the measurement of your
waistline. Dancing will be to re-
cords and there will he soft
drinks and Long Johns which
will cost you ten cents.
The •date of the Christmas
dance was finally settled by the
Students' Council, to be on the
last day of school, Wed. Dec. 22.
The rule still holds this yen.
as it did at school dances last
year. If yore bring somebody
who isn't going to this school,
you must leave his or her name
with Mr. Plumsteel before four
o'clock.
Invitations and ideas for the
Formal are to be taken to the
main office immediately. The
Formal this year will be held
the second Friday in January.
The first dance that was held
this year was a successful event.
Over two hundred were in at-
tendance and the Students'
Council took in almost one hund-
red dollars.
There was a meeting of the
W.O.S.S.A. last Monday and for
the first time there will be both
a Junior and a Senior Girls'
Basketball team. They will have
a separate schedule and travel
in a different bus than the boys'
teams.
At last, the basketball the
boys play at noon. hour has some
supervision. Mr. Dobson got a
list of the boys wishing to play
and divided them into six teams.
Only two teams will be on the
floor each noon hour. •
Practices will start soon for
the Junior and Senior boys bas-
ketball teams.

On Dec. 0th 23 adults mot at
the home of Mas. Geo. Carter to
discuss 'National health Insur-
ance Plan. This was a long dis-
cussion as the groups were not
unanimous in their discussion.
Some believed the present medi-
eat and health services were ade-
quate while others thought there
were not sufficient doctors and
dentists. Doctors do not take
the same personal interest in
many patients that previous
country doctors did. Doctors'
waiting rooms are usually crowd-
ed and one must often wait
weeks for an appointment with
a dentist, In rural areas there
is a great scarcity of mental
doctors and mental cases are
greatly on the increase. Sickness
is so very expensive and the
poorest families are the ones
who can least afford to pay pre-
miums on a health insurance
policy. Prevention or early 'de-
tection of trouble is most im-
portant. We all 'agreed on the
inoculation of children and the
visits of nurses to schools test-
ing eyes, examining teeth, de-
tecting diseased conditions as
important as curing more ser-
ious sickness. We believe that a
federal insurance policy where

each family must contribute a
small sum would be best. But
according to the broadcast there
is no chance of that in the jai -
mediate future. It would be quite
expensive to the nation and have
its own problems. People believe
their taxes are sufficiently high
now. More people would want
care, hospitalization. Present
hospitals would have to be en-

quired, and new hospitals built,
