Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dittmer and
Bradley of Kitchener visited his
mother, Mrs, Mary Dittmer,
Rev. and Mrs, Paul rBeehter of
Dallas, Texas, visited friends, both
are former• residents here.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rock and
Jane and Mr, and Mrs, Jake Miguel'
spent Sunday in Walkerton with the
former's son, Rev. and Mrs. Robert
Rock,
Mzts, Vin Dittmer and sons Van
and Don of Wingham visited Mrs,
Mary Dittmer on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scherbarth and
Ralph and Mr, Chas Eggert returned
home from a trip to the coast.
Miss Rose Seherbarth returned
home from Deseronto.
Ten members of the Ladies' Aid
attended the Ladies' Aid Rally at
Sullivan 7. ownship Lutheran Church
last Wednesday.
Rev, W. Becker was confined to
his bed for a week with Bronehitis.
Films were shown at the school on
Friday evening, the next showing
will be Oct, 29th.

ing of the new Arts and Science
Building at Waterloo College on

Rev. W. Becker will attend the

Convention in Toronto this week.
Mrs. Wm. Barth returned to her
home at Marble Rock, Iowa, after
visiting relatives here.

collected for the Bible- Society, A

Mrs. Glen Carter. The Sectional
meeting will be held in Egmondville
United Church on Oct. 15. The
treasurer, Mrs. Geo. Smith stated
that $46.81 had been collected from
the copper contest. Myrtle Knox sang
a solo, "Will you volunteer for Je-
sus?" She was accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. E. Knox. -
The W. A. decided to buy 4 doz.
cups and saucers, and new music for
the choir. The two losing groups in
the copper contest served supper to
40 guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Scherbarth,
Mr. Ralph Scherbarth and Mr. Chas.
Eggert returned home last week aft-
er a month's trip through the West-
ern Provinces to Victoria, B.C. On
the return trip they went through
the U.S.A.
Mr. Fergus Horan left last week
as a harvest worker to Saskatchewan
Mr. and Mrs, Irvin Rock, Paul and
Karen recently visited Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Flood at Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Whitehouse
and Donna of Kippen accompanied
by Mr. and Mrs. Osbert Whitehouse
of Hartland, New Brunswick, were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Eggert.
Mrs. Fred Hoegy has returned
home after spending several weeks
with her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Kle-
ber, at Kitchener.

Mr. Henry Weitersen is confined
to Stratford General Hospital for
treatment.

The Tuckersmith Ladies' Club held
its regular meeting on Wednesday
afternoon, Sept. 20th at the home
of Mrs, Ervin Sillery..
The meeting opened with the
"Ode" followed by the Lord's Pray-
er. The roll call "A cure for the
blues" was quite interesting and was
answered by 16 members and 2 visit-
ors. Reports were given•by. miens
committees and business discussed.
The final plans were made for the
.Annual Auction Sale to be held in
the Agriculture Board rooms in •Clin-
ton, on Friday evening, Oct, 29th,
The program consisted of a quiz on
"Etiquette", by Mrs. Bert Garrett,
a humorous reading and a contest
by Mrs. Mervyn Falconer. The meet-
ing closed by singing "There is a
tavern in the town" and repeating
the Homemakers' Prayer. A delicious
lunch was served by the hostess and
members of groap 3.

1VIrs. Pearl Case was a recent visit-

Mr. and Mrs. Blighton Ferg and

Mra. Bertha Ball
Mrs, Bertha Bell, well-known resi-
dent of Hensall passed away Satur-
day at South Huron Hospital, Exet-
er, in her 81st year. She was the
former Bertha E, Dick, widow of the
late Thomas P. Bell, Surviving is one
son Arnold of Toronto,
Funeral services were held Mon-
day at Carmel Presbyterian Church,
conducted by Rev, J. B. Fox. Inter-
ment in Hensall Union Cemetery.
WALTON
In a statement to the press Dr. R.
M. Aldis, Goderich, Huron County's
Medical Officer of Health, stated
that the Walton United Church is
clear of infection and has been given
full authority by hien to proceed with
serving suppers.
The statement follows a story car-
ried by the daily newspapers last
week on the outbreak of paratyphoid
fever in the Walton area last sum-
mer, after which investigation of the
main food supplies, the water supply
and the plumbing alterations at the
church were successfully carried out.
It Was found that- each patient had
attended a garden party at the
Church in June.

CROP REPORT
Due to unfavorable weather con-
ditions attendance was down consid-
erably at the five Fall Fairs held in
the !County last week, Silo filling is
being hampered by the wet weather.
White bean growers face a serious
crop loss unless the weather clears
up immediately. Fruit growers are
harvesting an excellent crop of Mo-

at Breslau, October 12, 13, 14 and 15. Plowmen from many parts of Canada will be
