BLAKE HOME DAMAGED,
AUTO STRIKES BUILDINGS
In an accident at Blake, two miles
north-west of Zurich, a car driven
by J. Hayden, Detroit, traveling
north on the county road, went over
a hill on the south side of the inter-
section, applied brakes, and went off
the west side of the road. The car
struck the east side of the home of
Amos Gingerich, R.R. 2, Zurich, a
two-storey frame house, and ripped
off its asphalt covering as far as the
north corner. Extensive damage was
done to the livingroom of the house
and its contents. Mrs. Gingerich and
her daughter Betty, 15, were alone in
the house at the time, It was said by
Mrs. Gingerich that damage would
"run up into hundreds of dollars,"
Damage to Mr. Hayden's car was
estimated at $400. Provincial Con-

Howard Brown, Crediton, 25, driv-
ing a 1952 car, reportedly struck a
hydro pole on the Crediton road. He
was admitted to South Huron Hospit-
al, Exeter, with superfieial abrasions.
Damage to the car was set at $1,200.
Back Injured
Andrew :Goetz, Kitchener, was
driving west on the Crediton road
when he reportedly lost control of
the car, which rolled over. Ilene Re-
gier, 17, R.R. 2, Crediton, was ad-
mitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, with a back injury. Mr. Goetz's
car was completely wrecked. Provin-
cial Constable Elmer Zimmerman,
Exeter, investigated,

Sunday.

ines, were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Otto Walker,
Rev. and Mrs. George Lamont and
family, Mitchell, and Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Kendrick, Exeter, were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Lamont on Sun-
day,
Mrs. John Hocking, accompanied
by Mrs. Ethel Currie, visited on Mon-
day with Miss Mary Currie, Wood-
stock,
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Givens of Arth-
ur and Mr. and Mrs, Wilson Tremeor
of Mitchell, visited on Sundays with
Mrs. M. Houghton.
Mrs. Dan McKellar, Russell, Bruce
and Joy Anne, Buffalo, visited last
week with their many relatives here.

Relatives have received word of
the death of Mrs. Sophie Bennewies
in Kitchener. She was a former resi-
dent here. Burial was made in .St.
Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Idora Diegel has been under
the Doctor's care and confined to her
home.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jonas
Dittmer on Sunday were Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Kirkey, Jeanette and Paul
of Kilsteche, Miss Sally Dittmer,
Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bade

The members of the Brodhagen
Band and their families enjoyed a
picnic at Jowett's Grove, Bayfield,
on Sunday. Races were enjoyed by
all.
