Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl and daugh-
ter 'Connie left on Wednesday for a
trill to Filmore, Sask., where they will
visit Mrs. Sorsdahl's mother, Mrs,
Allan McLean and other relatives.
Mrs. M. Houghton, Mr, Frank
Stagg and Mr. and Mrs, Ross Hough-
ton and fancily were guests at the
wedding reception for Mr. Gordon
Houghton and Miss 'Shirley Gale,
who were married at Ailsa Craig on
Saturday.
Mr, and Mrs. Henry Drake of Ham -
iota, Manitoba, have been visiting
with their daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs, Filmer Chappel and
other relatives.
Mr, and Mrs. J. G. Scott, Russel -
dale 'were Sunday guests of Mr, and
Mrs. Andrew McLachlan.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Gale, of Ailsa
Craig, visited recently with Mrs, M.
Houghton.

Mr. and Mrs, Robert Laing spent

Mr. and Mrs, Frank Cadick and
children of London spent Civic Holi-
day with friends here.
The marriage of Miss Celia Norris
to Mr. R. G. Hubert of Seaforth, took
place at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mr's. Harry Norris on Saturday.
Miss Margaret Ann Wallace visited
last week with her uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs, Frank Cadick, London.
Many of the children of this dis-
trict are attending Bible School which
is being held in No. 6 School this
week.

Mr. Wayne Thornton, who spent
the last two weeks with his grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thorn-
ton, has returned to his home near
Monkton.
We aresorry to report that Joan,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs.' Don Dennis
is ill in Stratford Hospital.

Bolton has been in Stratford attend-
ing a summer course in music given

last week with Mr. Edwin. Davidson
and Miss Bessie Davidson.

ed hone from Toronto.

holding a benefit social in the church
on Thursday evening, Aug 5th for
Mrs, John Woods, polio patient,
whose treatments in Toronto are
quite expensive, (program bylocal
talent). We hope that friendand
neighbors will appreciate a chance to
help in this worthy objective.

CROP REPORT
Seven hundred 4-11 club members
visited the O.A.C. on Tuesday, July
27th on the Annual Huron County
4'H bus tour, Armyworms have al-
most disappeared from the grain
fields in the 'County. Practically all
of the wheat is now cut and combin-
ing and threshing of the crop is gen-
eral throughout the County. Many
fields of early grain have also been
Butt and the remainder of the crop is
ripening rapidly. Dry weather still
prevails and unless rain comes within
the next week or two there will be a
heavy crop loss particualrly in the
cultivated crops such as white beans,
soybeans, sugar beets, corn, etc.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shir'ey, Doug -
as and Bruce enjoyed a pleasant Mo-
tor trip through the States by New
York.
Mr. and Mrs. George Middleton
and daughter of Detroit were week-
end visitors with the foi'mer's broth-
er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
R. H. Middleton and Bobbie.
Miss Jean Mousseau has accepted
a position at Cowan's Bakery and
commenced her duties there last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Price, Nancy and
heith of Buffalo were weekend vis-
itors with Mrs. Price's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Chapman and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lee spent the
holiday with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr, and Mrs. Ronald Moir
in Strathroy and attended the horse
races there.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Harry Hoy spent
several days last week with relatives
in Kitchener.
Miss Shirley Chapman, nurse -in -
training at Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, visited this week with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Chapman.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scone and
family are holidaying at their cottage
at Lake Huron near Turnbull's
Grove,

Miss Marleen Diegel has taken a
position in Milverton for the next
three weeks.
Mr. Wm. S. Riehl and Shirley in
Detroit. Shirley remaining for some
holidays.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Oscar Diegel, Jim-

are now spending this week in Grand

ored to Chatham on Sunday, July 25
and spent the day with Mr, and Mrs,
Jack Busby and Shirley.

family of Toronto spent the weekend

Jewitt and Mr. and Mrs, Wilbur
Jewitt.
