Spittal, Branch Manager our late ,Principal, "If a student is itble to master Latin, he should be able to =meant any subject on the curriculum.," As a student, Charlie Sills' inti- mate class -mates readily saw the ease, with which he romped through er1YlyricsofHorace,t and; the hethe avier Poetry of ill-starred "Ovid". We feel certain that in higher spats of learning, he could handle, with the same eonsummate ease, fiery 'Cicer- o's conspirational "Catiline", Keno - phone's historical "Anabasis" , " or Homer's great Trojan epics, Iliad and Odyssey", not forgetting the more abstruse tragedies of Sopho- cles and Aeschylus. Whether in the gymnasium or on the School campus no more doughty champion could be found. The part he played as a member of the uncon- quered Huron foot -ball team will not soon be forgotten. The list below gives the names of all the class -mates, in Charlie's grad- hating year, at the Seaforth Colleg- iate Institute in alphabetical order. Form IV., Christmas 1902. With his immediate associates he counted his lot fortunate to be under the tutelage of "a gentleman and a scholar", the late Charles Clarkson, B.A., the .first Principal of the school that C not many years, fcame obeing, Fortunate we were, for the cur- rent report, in those days, claimed Mr. Clarkson to -be a "Triple Schol- lar", having graduated from Toronto University, with honours in English, Mathematics and Science. Was he as big as this?" asked the mother Frog, puffing herself out to look as big as possible. "Ohl yes, much bigger," was the answer.
