ST. COLUMBAN
The St. Columban Sub -Division of
the C.W.L. held its regular monthly
meeting in the parish hall with a
good attendance. The President, Mrs,
John Moylan, opened the meeting
with the League Prayer. The min-
utes 'of the previous meeting were
read by Mrs. Win. McMillan and
adopted. The correspondence was
read by Mrs. Michael Doyle. Thank -
you notes were read for spiritual
and temporal gifts. Letters were
read from the Diocesan Convenors
and were handed to the local conven-
or for attention. The first Vice Pre-
sident, Mrs. Jos. Kale, reported a
membership of 122. The second Vice
President, Mrs. Thos Molmis, report-
ed boxes sent to two sick members.
Mrs, Jack .McIver reported the pur-
chase of pins for the 1953 graduates
from Grade VIII. During the meet-
ing, the third Vice President, Mrs,
Jack McIver presented these to Mar-
garet Rose Murray (who had the
highest average), Marie O'Connor,
Mary Cronin, Solange Vandeniber-
ger, Noreen Dalton, Joan Dalton,

The Fox and The drapes
A T-IUNGRY FOX saw some fine bunches
of Grapes hanging from a vine that was
trained along a high trellis, and did his
best to reach them by jumping as high
as he could into the air. But it was all in
vain, for they were just out of reach: so
he gave up trying, and walked away with
an air of dignity and unconcern, remark-
ing, "I thought those Grapes were ripe,
but I see now they are quite tour.",
MORAL: Instead of saying "sour
grapes" when you can't immediately
attain your ambitions, build a
ladder to success by opening a
savings account with The
Canadian Bank of Commerce. Add to
your balance regularly and
you'll soon be in a position
to get what you seek. 7
