Cemetery Decoration Services
were held at the Evangelical Church
here on Sunday in spite of the rain,
The services were held in the Church
which was filled to its capacity, Rev.
H. L. Brox, Pastor, preached a very
able sermon. Special music was rend-
ered by Misses Knechtel and Eggert
and Messrs Earl Eggert and John
Doerr of Rostock, which was much
appreciated.
Among those from a distance pre-
sent were Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Morenz and daughter, Mrs. Mildred
Cole of London; Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Eggert and son, Mr, and Mrs. John
Doerr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Knechtel and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Eggert of Rostock; Mrs. Ver-
na Moreno of Mitchell; Mr, and Mrs.
Wm. Hoegy of Seaforth; Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Hoegy of Grey; Mr.
and Mrs. Will Gross and Miss Elda

held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church
here next Sunday, Sept. 20 at 10:15
Mr, Aug. Hillebrecht has been
confined to Scott Memorial Hospit-
al, Seaforth, for the past week.
Mr, and Mrs. Chris W. Leonhardt
accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Rose of Sarnia on a trip to Ottawa,
Sault Ste. Marie and other points.
Mrs. John E. Siemon returned
home' from a visit with relatives in
Alberta.
Mr. and Mrs. George F. Mueller
are on a trip to the Coast. •
Mrs. Mary Dittmer is spending
several weeks with her son Gerald
Dittmer and Mrs. Dittmer of Toron-
to, at a cottage at Point Clarke.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Leonhardt and
Donna have moved into their new
home which Mr. Leonhardt erected
in the village this summer.
Mr. Gottlieb Mueller quietly cele-
brated his 91st birthday on Satur-
day. He received a telegram of good
wishes from his nephew from South
Africa.
Mr. and Mrs. John Arbuckle and
sons Jimmy, Billy and Bobby have
returned home after supervising
Edgewood Park Camp near Guelph
all summer.
Mrs. John Mueller and Ruth Ann
of Hamilton are visiting at the, home
of her parents Mr, and Mrs. Aug.
Hillebrecht.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to the family of the late
Louis G. Rock who passed away on
Saturday.

family of Kitchener visited with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ellig-

Brodhagen Band attended Monkton
and McKillop Fair this week.
Dean Edward, infant son of Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Smith was bap-
tized after the service at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church on Sunday by Rev.'
W. Becker. The sponsors were Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Scherbarth and the
parents.
On !Saturday evening relatives of
Mr. Calvin Diegel, son of Mr, and
Mrs, Wm., Diegel of Brodhagen,
gathered at the home of his uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Brunner and hisrandmother, Mrs.

on Friday evening.
Miss Marlene Diegel suffered torn
ligaments in her ankle but is able to
attend school,

A joint meeting of the W.M.S.
and W. A. was held in the church on
Tuesday evening Sept. 8. Mrs. Bob
Taylor took charge of the worship
service, Scripture readings were
given by Mrs. M. Hayter, Mrs. A.
Coleman, Mrs, Pitt and Mrs, E. Mc-
Clinchey, this was followed by pray-
er by Mrs, Taylor. The meeting was
then turned over to the W. A. Pres.,
Mrs. L. Taylor. 14 ladies answered
the roll call with their donation to-
wards the tornado. fund. Thankyou
notes were read from Mrs, A. Must-
ard, Mrs. C. Reid and H. Dowson,
a letter from Schneiders in regard
to the supper which is to be held on
Thurs. Nov. 26. The minutes were
read by the secretary, and Miss R.
Johnston gave the treasurer's report.
The bazaar is to be held on Sat. Oct.
31. .
The W.M.S. Pres. Mrs. G. Reid,
then took charge. Mrs. M. Hayter
read the minutes. The text word for
next month to be "thanks". There
were 14 calls to shutins. Mrs. B.
Taylor, Mrs. Pitt, and Mrs. M. Hay-
ter read from the study book, Where-
'er the sun, the theme being the
life and task of the Church. The
meeting closed with the benediction.

Gackstetter attended a shower in
honour of Miss Velma Ferguson,
bride -elect; at the home of her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ferguson
near Hensall last week.
Quite a number from here are at-
tending the Western Fair in London
this week.
Mr. Robert Thompson visited a
couple of days last week with his
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Lorne Schneider in Stratford.

can visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. N. L. Mellis.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Green of Lon-
don visited on Sunday with Mr. Jon-
ah Green.

Mr. and Mrs, A. Gackstetter.
Mrs. Norman Long spent a few
days last week -with friends in Lon-
don.

Presbyterian Church, Hensall, on
Saturday last.

The pupils of St. Andrew's United
Church Sunday School are requested
to be present at 10:45 a.m. on Sun-
day next. Rally Services will be held
during the morning services.
