R. Jewitt being absent. The following motions were pass- ed, Tom Leiper and Geo, C, Brown, that we tnstruet the Road Superin- tendent to apply for the Interim Subsidy on the road expenditure. Troelsen and Hans are leaving for Swift Current, Sash,' where Mr. Troelsen has a position at the l9wperimentel Farm, Miss Josephine McIver left on Monday to resume her teaching du- ties in St, 'Catherines. Dr. and Mrs, H. Hodgins have re- turned to their home in Toronto aft- er spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. John Beattie. Mr. and Mrs. Neville McMillan and son, Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs, Joseph McMillan. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Hotham Jr. and family spent last week with Mr, and Mrs, P. 3, Rielly, Galt. Mr, Ronald Sills, Toronto, spent. the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, C. P. Sills. Mr. and Mrs. John Neilson and son, New Hamburg, were weekend guests of Mrs, Julia Flannagan, Mr. and Mrs. John McQuaid of St. Thomas, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Joseph McQuaid, Miss Patricia Stiles, is holidaying in Mount Forest, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Morris. Mr, James Wallace of town, and Miss Beulah Dennis, Lakelet, were in Toronto a few days last week at- tending the C.N.E. and visiting with his mother, Mrs. Edythe Wallace, Mrs. Hugh Sproat and daughter, Mr's. Tabor, and family have return- ed to Cleveland, also Mrs. Walter Barry and family to Detroit. DUBLIN James O'Connor, Harold Pethick and Patrick Ryan were sponsors for a surprise event celebrating the Sil- ver Wedding Anniversary of Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Stapleton, Hibbert, at their home on Tuesday evening. Ap- proximately fifty friends and neigh- bors assembled to extend good wish- es and felicitations to the honored guests, An address of congratula- tions was read by James O'Connor and presentation of a silver tea ser- vice and a purse of money was made by Patrick Ryan and Harold Pethick. The guests of honor responded gra- ciously. Mr. and Mrs. Stapleton have one daughter, Mary Catharine. Progressive euchre and a social hour of dancing was enjoyed and a delicious lunch was served by the sponsors and their assistants, A highly respected pioneer fanner of McKillop twp., Jaynes Delaney, died at his home near Dublin on Fri- day evening, September 4, in his 89th year. He was a faithful mem- ber of St. 'Patrick's Church, Dublin, and of the Holy Name Society, He was a native of McKillop twp, and spent most of his life in this district. About- 50 years ago he was married to Miss Sara McQuaid of McKillop, who predeceased hint about two years ago. He is survived by seven daughters: Mrs. Louis (Marie) Bru- xer, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) McLaug- lin, Mrs. Joseph (Loretta) Shea, all of Dublin; Mrs, Joseph (Teresa) Ma- lone, Mrs. Edward (Frances) Mel- ady, both of St. Columban; Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) O'Neil, Windsor, and firs, Ben (Anne) Blonde, Chat- ham; two sons, Joseph Delaney and James Delaney, Dublin, also two brothers, John Delaney and Joseph Delaney, St, Columban, also 86 grandchildren. The funeral was held at St. Pat- rick's Church, Dublin, on Monday morning, Sept. 7, when Solemn Re- quiem High Mass was sung by Rev. J. B. Ffoulkes, D.Q.L., assisted by Rev. Father McCowell, St,_ Colum - ban, and Rev. Thos. McQuaid, S. F. M. Superior of Scarboro Foreign Missions, Toronto, Numerous floral and spiritual of- ferings gave evidence to the esteem in which Mr. Delaney was held. The pallbearers were seven son -in-laws: Louis Bruxer, Joseph McLaughlin, Joseph Malone, Charles O'Neil, Ben Blonde, Joseph Shea, Edward Mel- ady, and one nephew, James Galla- gher, Rev, Dr. Ffoulkes officiated at the grave service and burial took place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dublin. Among those attending the fun- eral were Rev. Thos. McQuaid, S. F. M., James Gallagher, Miss Mary Gallagher, Mr. and Mrs, Frank Gal- lagher, all of Toronto, Miss Kate Gallagher, Michael McQuaid, Detro- it; Mr, and Mrs. Charles O'Neil, Windsor, Mr, and Mrs. Ben Blonde, Chatham, Frank McQuaid and Miss Florence McQuaid, Stratford, Leo Krauskopf and son, Joseph Kraus- kopf, London, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Gee, Kingsville, Lieut. Edward 'rosier, Mrs. To- zier and son, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. are spending a month with Mr. and Mrs, Patrick Ryan. Miss Monica Byrne attended the wedding of her niece, Miss Betty Byrne in Detroit on Labor Day, Miss Dorothy Kistner, Reg. N” Kitchener, and Miss 10 e 1 p b i n e Schmidt, Reg, N., Mildmay, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs, Charles Kistner, prior to their departure for Northern Ontario where they have accepted positions in St. Paul's Hos- pital, Hearst.
