TUCKERSMITH
Tuckersmith Nlunicipal Council
met in the Town Hall, Seaforth, on
Wednesday, June 3, 1953, at 8 p.m.
for its regular meeting. The Reeve
presided and all members were pre-
sent.
Adrian Timmerman attended the
meeting and complained that the tile
portion of the McCully drain was
not draining his farm properly and
council will secure advice from the
Engineer as to a remedy for the sit-
uation. The township will also se-
ure tile to be installed on roadside,
cljoining Glenn Slavin property and
repair 'a fence whieh was removed
to install a culvert adjoining J. W.
Crich property.
The adjourned Court of Revision
on the Alexander Drain by-law was
held and as a satisfactory agreement
could not be reached the Courtwas.

Council presented an agreement
to John McCowan relative to leasing
a dumping ground but as the agree-
ment was not satisfactory to the said
John McCowan it was not signed.
The Road Superintendent was in-
structed to have streets in Egmond-
ville treated with calcium chloride
wih gravel being applied where in
his opinion it was necessary. 1
James Doig and Ivan Forsyth were
appointed a committee to investi-
gate the necessity of installing ad-
ditional street lights in Egmondville.
Accounts passed included: Drains,
73.50; Fox bounty, $30.50; Roads
Illiccount, $2762.54; Hospitalization,
5130.50; Warbieide, $150.00; SalarY
and Allowance, $175.00; Postage,
55.00.
Council adjourned. to meet July 7
at 8 p.m.
At a special meeting held on June
5th, 1953, council purchased a new
Dodge DH -1 half -ton truck from
Roweliffe Motors at the (price of
51854.00 less allowance of $649.00
for their old truck.

In a double -ring ceremony in
First Presbyterian Church, Port
Huron, Mich„ at 2 p.m. on Saturday,
Marion Frances, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mason, Sea -
forth, was united in marriage to Mr.
Harvey Richard Rowe, Silverwood,
Mich., only son of Mr. and Mrs. Ar-
thur D. Rowe, also of Silverwood.
Rev. J. Alton Cressman officiated.
Traditional wedding music was play-
ed by the church organist, who also
accompanied Mr. Russell Ferrier,
Detroit, Mich., who sang "Through
the Years" and "Because". The
bride wore a dress of pleated nylon
tulle and Chantilly lace over white
satin, designed and made by her-
self, A white satin head -band held
her illusion veil; and•she carried a
cascade bouquet of lilies of the val-
ley and stephanotis. Miss Norma
Watson, Strathroy, as bridesmaid,
wore a blue lace ankle -length dress
and carried a styled bouquet of pink
Gerbera daisies and Bountiful roses.
Mr. Irving Cheney, Port Huron, was
best man; and Mr, Edwin Parrigan,
Detroit, and Mr. E. J. McCardle, Sil-
verwood, were ushers. Palms, cand-
elabra, and baskets of pink peonies
and white carnations decorated the
altar and reception parlor, For the
reception in the church parlor, Mrs.
Mason, mother of the bride, wore
ice -blue rayon with matching hat;
and the bridegroom's mother, Mrs.
Rowe, wore navy blue crepe with
white trim and a matching hat. They
wore similar corsages of pink roses.
A toast to the bride was proposed by
Mr. Herb Sage, Traverse City,
Mich.; and one to the bride's and
bridegroom's mothers was proposed
by Mr. S. J. Pepper, uncle of the
bridegroom, Detroit, Mich. For a
honeymoon trip to northern Michi-
gan, the bride wore turquoise linen
with a white hat and accessories. On
their return they will reside in Sil-
verwood. Guests numbering 125
were present from Detroit; Pontiac,
Romeo, North Branch, Royal Oak,
Birmingham, Traverse City, a dSil-
verwood, Mich., Strathroy, Blyth,
Brampton, Toronto, Lucknow, God-
erich, Vancouver, and Seaforth. The
,bride is an associate of the Royal
'I✓paservatory of Music, Toronto. •

Miss Carolyn Holmes has re-
turned after a four-week visit to
Boston.
Mrs, John A. McGregor was a
guest at the Waldeoker-Quinlan wed-
ding in Detroit last Saturday.
Mr. T. Aldington has received
this reply from Sir Winston 9bureh-
ill to a letter of congratulations on
receiving knighthood: "I thank you
for the kind message of congratula-
tions which gave me much pleasure,

First Presbyterian Church here
was the setting for a wedding cere-
mony at noon Saturday, May 23rd
when Rev. D. Glenn Campbell unit-
ed in marriage Lois Eileen Hogg,
Seaforth, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James Hogg, Collingwood, for-
merly of Seaforth, and Mr. Bedford
Bennett Dungey, Seaforth, son of
the late 81t'. and Mrs, William Dun-
gey.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a floor -length white
gown fashioned with a bodice of
chantilly lace with a sweetheart
neckline and a full skirt of ice white
nylon net over satin with lace insets.
Her lace -edged fingertip veil of ny-
lon net was held by a headdress en-
crusted with pearls. She wore a
rhinestone necklace, a gift of the
bridegroom, and carried red roses.
Mrs. Edward Fischer, Seaforth, as
bridesmaid, wore a floor -length
gown of yellow nylon net over taf-
feta with accordian-pleated front
and inserts of chantilly lace. A halo
of yellow roses held her shoulder -
length veil of net, and she carried a
nosegay of spring flowers. Lloyd
Dungey, Mitchell, brother of the
bridegroom, was best man.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Toll, Blyth, uncle and
aunt of the bride. Mrs. James Hogg,
mother of the bride, received the
guests in a blue nylon dress with
navy accessories. A hand -crocheted
tablecloth covered the dining table
which was centred with a three -
tiered cake. Other decorations used
were spring flowers and streamers.
Miss Marjorie Roe and Miss Dorothy
Fischer assisted in serving.
For a wedding trip to eastern cen-
tres, the -bride changed to a powder -
blue suit with red accessories and a
corsage of red roses. On their re -
tern they will reside in Seaforth.
Guests were present from Colling-
wood, Sebringville, Mitchell, St. Co-
lumban, Clinton and .Seaforth.
WINTHROP
Cavan Church will hold their an-
nual Sunday School and congrega-
tional picnic to Bayfield, Jewitt's
Grove on Saturday, June 20 at 2
p.m.eBasket lunch.

joy their hospitality. Mrs. Hugh Al-
exander and Mrs. Robt. McClure re-
ceived the guests. Mrs. Wm. Dodds,
the president, was in the chair, The
meeting opened with a moment of
silent prayer for the queen followed
with singing the National Anthem,
and Rise up 0 Men of God. Mrs.
Wm. McSpadden read the scripture,
Romans 10, 145, and Mrs. G. Blan-
chard offered prayer. 'Mrs. Frank
Johnston was at the organ. Words of
welcome were extended to the visit-
ors by Mrs, E. Hawley. The pro-
gram included a quartette from Eg-
mondvilie..Mrs. E. Stephenson, Miss
Mae Smith, Mrs. A, Forbes, and
Mrs. G. McGonigle who sang "Mes-
sage of Peaee" with Mrs, E. Smith
at the piano. Mrs. G. Ferris, Sea -
forth, gave a reading,(" You're a Mis-
sion". A solo "I'll go anywhere" by
Mrs. F. McGregor. Miss Lee, Strat-
ford, a missionary on furlough from
Africa was the guest speaker, and
gave an inspiring address on "Mis-
sionary Conscious". She also showed
slides on Africa which were much
enjoyed. Words of appreciation were
spoken by Mrs. H. E. Livingstone.
The collection was received by Mrs.
George Case and Mrs. George Peth-
ick. A bazaar and mystery sale was
held in the schoolroom. The ladies
enjoyed delicious refreshments serv-
ed by the W. A. Mrs. P. Moffat,
Mrs. 0, Ferris, and Mrs. A. Crozier
expressed the thanks of the various
organizations for the splendid after-
noon.

Cox) of Clinton, and Mr. and NIrs.
Edwin Johns of Mitchell, visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Trewartha.
Mr. Robert McFarlane returned
from visiting his brother in Almonte,
Mrs. Steiman of Tavistock is visit-
ing Mr. and Mrs. A. Dolniage.

United Church parsonage, Goderich.
when Thelma Mary Caroline Ben-
nett, daughter of Mrs. Clara Ben-
nett, Goderich, and the late Her-
bert Bennett was united in marriage
to William Alexander Manning, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Manning
of Blyth. The Rev. D. W. Williams
officiated.
The bride wore a ballerina gown
of Italian lace over satin fashioned
with a strapless bodice with lace
jacket, and a full skirt featuring a
front insert panel of net accordian
pleats. A small cap of lace covered
satin held her shoulder veil of tulle
illusion. She carried a bouquet of
red roses, stephanotis and ivy. The
bride was attended by Mrs. Melvin
Bennett as matron of honour wear-
ing a ballerina gown of pink nylon
net over taffeta with headdress of
matching flowers and carried a
nosegay of blue and white carna-
tions. Melvin Bennett of Goderich,
brother of the bride, was best man.
'The reception was held at the
Goderich Pavillion. The bride's
mother received guests wearing a
grey suit with navy accessories.
The groom's mother assisted wear-
ing a grey suit with navy accessor-
ies. Both wore corsages of pink
carnations.
The' couple left on a wedding trip
through the United States, the bride
travelling in a canary yellow snit
with navy accessories and a corsage
of blue carnations. On their return
they''will reside in Blyth.
