The Londeshoro W.M.S. meeting
was held in the schoolroom of the
Church on Thursday, May 14, . with
the president, Mrs. F. Tamblyn in
the chair. Meeting opened with the
call to worship. The hymn 402.
"Lead on, 0 King Eternal" was sung
followed with prayer. A letter from
Mrs. Grearson, Toronto, was read
asking for diapers or feeding bibs
for babies, to be sent overseas. A
bale of used clothing and 7 quilts
valued at $1'70.00, a smaller box of
children's clothing to be packed
later, Anyone who would care to do-
nate diapers or feeding bibs please
leave them with Mrs. Wm, Lyon or
Mrs. Govier. Mrs, R. Townsend and
Miss E. Jamieson gave splendid re-
ports of the Presbyterial held re-
cently at Goderich. Group No. 1
then took charge with Mrs. Web•
-
ter leading, 'Mrs. J. Manning, Mrs,
B. Allen, Mrs. Alexander and Mrs.
Lyon took the chapter; in the study
book, "Life in an African Village'.
Mrs. 3, Armstrong led in prayer,
The meeting closed with a hymn and
Benediction.
Weekend holiday visitors with
Mr, and Mrs. J. H. Shobbrook were
Mr. and Mrs, Lorne Shobbrook,
•Oshawa, Mrs, Edna Montgomery,
Hamilton, and sister Ella from the
States, Mr, and Mrs. Norman Rad-
ford, Parkhill.
Sunday visitors with Mr, and Mrs.
Ed Youngblutt, Mr, and Mrs. Stan-
ley Youngblutt, Goderich, Mt'. and
Mrs, Knox Williams of Clinton.
Mrs, W. T. Brunsdon has returned
to her home, her sister Emma is
staying with her for a time.

Nichol gave a temper'anee reading,
Mrs, Will Leeming, Seaforth, . a
charter member of Bethel W.X.S.
was weleoined back as the ,guest
speaker. She spoke on f"Women of
the Bible" which was both interest-
ing and informative. •She also told
some of the early history of Bethel
Church which was built in 1878,
Short Presbyterial reports were
given by several members. A lovely
solo was sung by Mrs, Stanley Hil-
len. Ethel Dennis , read a poem.
"Mum's Apron". She also spoke on
"The Home", and stressed the part
the home plays and should play in
all our lives. Arrangements were
made to have a missionary story told
to the Sunday School scholars every
month.
The business of the W. A. was
conducted by Mrs. S. Hillen. The
coppers for the contest are to be
brought to the. June meeting, also
clothing for a relief bale, This
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs. Don Dennis, Donations are
to •be•given to the M. and M. fund
and to the manse fund. A new
hymnary with notes is to be pur-
chased for use on the pulpit, A sale
of plants was held, Rev. Mr. Living-
stone closed the meeting with .pray-
er. A. delicious lunch was served by
the hostess.
HENSALL
Mr. and Mrs. Peter McNaughton
and Robert spent the weekend with
Mrs. McNaugitton's brother and sist-
er-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Harrold
Scr'uton in Port Dover.
Mrs. Robert Luxton of Clinton
visited last week with her mother,
Mrs. R. M. Kirby.
Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Lee and Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Moir spent the week-
end with relatives at Owen Sound.
The members of Amber Rebekah
Lodge held a most successful tea
and home baking sale in the Lodge
hall on Saturday.
Mrs. Johns returned: to the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Shirray
after visiting relatives at Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Paterson en-
joyed a pleasant motor trip to Ot-
tawa over the weekend where they
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Ortwein and family.
Mrs. Anna Elder of London visit-
ed over the weekend with her sons
and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Kennth Elder and_bit'. and Mrs. Har-
old Elder.
Miss Shirley Chapman, nurse -in -
training at Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, spent the weekend with her
parents, bir. and Mrs. Lorne Chap-
man.
BRUCEFIELD
There passed away at his home on
South St., a highly esteemed resi-
dent of Goderich, in the person of
James Boyce, in his 75th year. He
was born on Sept. Gth, 1878, the
eldest son of the late Thomas and
Elizabeth (Swan) Boyce. The de-
ceased had not been in good health
for the past two months and died
suddenly of an acute heart attack
on May 5th, 1953.
He was born, and lived most of
his life in the twp. of Tuckersmith
on Lot 27, Con. 1, L.R.S. In 1903 he
was united in marriage with 'Ida
Rose Emma Armstrong of the same
twp. In 1936 they moved to Goder-
ich.
The late Mr. Boyce was an active
man who worked hard, and was al-
ways ready to do a good turn for
anyone. His many kindnesses were
reflected by the many people who
came to pay their respects. He was
a faithful supporter of the Presby-
terian faith. He had received his
50 -year jewel front the Brueefield
I.O.O.F. in 1952. He was a valued
member of the Maitland Masonic
Lodge of Goderich.
Surviving are his wife, two sons,
Leonard of Delhi, Fred J., of Bruce -
field, and five .grandchildren. Also
his two brothers, Andrew T. Boyce
of Toronto and Dr. A. J. Boyce of
Sudbury, who were both able to be
present at the funeral.
The funeral took place on Thurs-
day from the Lodge Funeral Home,
to Baird's Cemetery. Rev. R. G.
MacMillan of Goderich Knox Pres-
byterian Church conducted the ser-
vice. At the cemetery he was assist-
ed by the members of the Maitland
Masonic Lodge No. 33 A.F. & A.M.
who administered the Masonic burial
rites.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Ed-
ward Boyes, Andrew Swan, Alton
Johnston, Stanley Prevott, Wm.
Mills and Albert Leitch. The flower -
bearers were Kenneth Miller, Carl
Worsell, Dan Wiggins, Fred Burdge,
Mervin Boyce and Stuart Boyce.

dian Junior Red Cross, Bill will take
in the Coronation celebration in
London on June .2nd. After this he
will take a two-week tour of Eng-
land before spending a quiet holiday
week in the Scottish Highlands. All
told Bill will be over . in the mother
country for about four weeks. Sea -
forth High certainly feels proud to
have the one boy to represent our
country, picked from our lot.
Cadet exercises are in their final
week. Next Wednesday; May 27th
is the set day for the big show. The
Bugle Band will be out in full fash-
ion with their new uniforms while
the rest of the school will be clad in
their regular tunics. The boys will
have the privilege of carrying the
new army rifles.
