HENSALL
A meeting was held in Hensall on
Monday evening April 13, of the
committee regarding the Western
Ontario Champion Fiddlers' Con-
test. The Champion Fiddlers' Con-
test will be held at the Hensall arena
on Friday, June 6th at 8 pan., more
prizes will be given this year includ-
ing thirty-two prizes in various clas-
ses and over $250 in cash. Ages in
the classes are 16 to 100; 51 to 75;
36 to 5.0. 21 to 36; Juniors 20 or un-
der; Ladies, open; Best step dancer;
Best ladies' step dancer; Best square
dance set; Entries will be received
the night of contest. Following cam-
mittees were appointed.

LONDESBORO
The Easter T•hankof£ering meet-
ing of the Londesboro W.M.S. was
held in the schoolroom of the church
on Wednesday, April 8th with the
president, Mrs. Frank Tamblyn pre-
siding. Meeting opened in the usual
form by singing and prayer. A short
business period was held. Mrs. Bert
Allen acted as Secretary in the ab-
sence of Mrs. Govier, thankyou
cards were read. Miss Esther Jamie-
son and Mrs. R. Townsend were

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our sincere
thanks to all our friends and neigh-
bors for their many acts of kindness
shown during our recent sad bereave-
ment. Especially we would thank the
Rev, Walter Becker, the choir of St,
Peter's Lutheran Church, those who
sent flowers and memorial wreaths,
those who loaned cars and all others
who expressed their sympathy by
their kindness in many other ways.
Mrs. Leslie Beuermann and family,
McKillop Township
poetry form. The Lord's Supper and
the Negro version of the. Crucifix-
ion. Mrs. Webster and Mrs. T, Ad-
ams took up the offering. The An-
burn W.M,S. were the guests of the
Londesboro Society. Mrs. Rogers of
Auburn contributed a pleasing solo
with Mrs. Washington at the piano.
Mrs. F. Tannblyn introduced Mrs,
Harold Snell of Exeter, the guest
speaker who based her remarks on
"Why seek ye the living from the
dead, for low, I am with you al-
ways". All enjoyed meeting with
Mrs. Snell and her pleasant person-
ality. A trio "He Arose" by Mrs.
Vincent, Miss Gail Manning and
Mrs, A. Shaddick of the Mission
(Circle of Londesboro, was much en-
joyed, The meeting closed by sing-
ing hymn 45 and the Benediction.
After which lunch was served by
the local society, about 60 were pre-
sent. Mrs. Albert Campbell, Au-
burn, voiced a. vote of thanks for
their kind invitation to Londesboro
and their hospitality, Mrs. Tamb)yn
replied.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Youngblutt
and Steven, Goderich. were visit-
ors with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Youngblutt •on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Radford and
Mrs, Weldon Tyndall were in Toron-
to on Sunday. Mr. W. Tyndall, who
has been in a Toronto Hospital for
an operation, returned home with
them. We wish Weldon a speedy and
complete recovery.
Mrs, Robt. Townsend, who spent
Easter week with her daughter
Dorothy in Toronto, returned home
on Monday.
Mrs. W. T. Brunsdon, who has
been laid up all winter with a brok-
en arm and has been staying at the
hone of her daughter, Mrs. Richard
Vodden, Clinton, viaitod with her
son Bert Brunsdon and other friends
on Sunday. We are sorry to say, Mrs.
Brunsdon is unable to use her hand,
her fingers being stiff and quite
useless,
MacDONALD-NEWMAN
Baskets of spring flowers formed
an effective setting in Chalmers
Presbyterian Church, Whitechurch,
for the ceremony which united in
marriage Marilyn Grace Newman,
Whitechurch, and Mr. Donald J.
MacDonald of RR. 2, Brussels. The
bride is a daughter of Mt. and Mrs.
Fred Newman and the bridegroom
is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mac-
Donald, Brussels. Rev, R. D. A.
Currie officiated; and Mrs. Wil-
liam Forster sang, "Because" and
"0 Perfect Love" to organ accom-
paniment by Mrs, Johnston Conn.
Mr. Newnan gave his daughter in
marriage. She wore a floor -length
gown of white Chantilly lace over
satin with a three -quarter -length
veil of illusion net. She carried a
bouquet of American Beauty roses
with shadow lace. Miss Betty Jane
Newman, the bride's sister, was
maid of honor, wearing an embroid-
ered pink nylon net gown 'with
matching hat and gloves. She car-
ried a nosegay of colonial pink De-
light roses. Miss Lois 'Kerr was
bridesmaid, wearing an embroidered
blue net gown with matching hat
and gloves and carried colonial
Hildegarde roses. The flower -girl,
Betty Ann Conn wore a frock of
yellow net taffeta and held a nose-
gay •of yellow chrysantheinums. Mr.
Kenneth MacDonald, Blyth, 'brother
of the bridegroom, was best man;
and the ushers were Mr. MhrraY
Huether, Brussels, and Mr. Douglas
Newman, Whitechurch. A reception
followed the ceremony at the Bruns-
wick Hotel, Wingham, Mrs. Newman
was gowned in dawn blue crepe,
with Italian lane trimming and navy
accessories, and a corsage of pink
carnations. Mrs. MacDonald wore a
navy sheer gown with navy and
white accessories and a corsage of
pink carnations. The couple left
later on a wedding trip to the Unit-
ed States. For traveling the bride
chose a navy crepe dress with red
and white trim and navy and red ac-
cessories. She wore a corsage of red
roses. Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald will
reside near Brussels.

The Young People of Roys and
Mount Pleasant United Church pre-
sented their play "Too Many Relat-
ives" in St. Peters Lutheran Church
here on Friday evening. • Doris and
Margaret Johns sang and Mrs. Colgn-
houn gave a reading between acts.
Warren William Frederick, infant
son of Mr. and Mrs, Oscar Young, was
baptized at the service at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church on Sunday morning
by Rev. Waiter Becker. The sponsors
were Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and the
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller and
Ruth Ann of Hamilton spent the week
end with her parents Mr, and Mrs.
Aug. Hillebrecht.
Mrs. Warren Schilbe of Exeter
spent the week end with her daugh-
ter Mrs. Mervin Hodgert and Mr,
Hodgert.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Sholdice,
Gary, Warren, Roger and Beverley,
visited with Mr, and Mrs, Ian Wilbee
at Walton on Sunday.

cluding a style show and three short
plays with musical numbers between
acts. This Variety Show will also be
held in Grace Lutheran Church on
Friday evening.
