Mrs, Mabel Tweddie, District De-
puty President, of Goderich, was
honored on her official visit to Am-
ber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, when
a social was held, Mrs. Tweddie ad-
dressed the lodge, congratulating
the members on their progress. Fol-
lowing the regular lodge meeting a
program was presented under the
direction of Mrs. Margaret Ingram.
Mrs, Albert Shirray favored with a
piano selection. Miss Mattie Ellis
gave two humorous readings.
Miss Castle of London visited this
week with her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr, and Mr's. John Alexan-
der.. •
Mr. and Ml's. E. Davis have rent-
ed the residence of Mrs. John Me -
Beath and intend moving there soon.
Jean Henderson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, John Henderson, Hensel',
was successful in the vocal class,
n'irls under 13 at the Kiwanis Music ,
Festival in Stratford, on Tuesday
morning. Jean was big+hest in the
class and is a pupil of Mr. John L.
Nicol A.C.C.O., Hensall
Mr. Win. Bell, Highway No. 4,
was removed to • Clinton General I
Hospital, on Sunday, where he is re-
ceiving treatment in the interests of
his health.
I Mr. Fred Smallecombe was re-'
moved to Exeter (South Huron Dis
. trier) Hospital by ambulance, not to
the home of his daughter.

Township council met March 2nd,
in the community hall Lonclesboro,
the reeve and all members of coun-
cil were present. Tenders for the
crushing and hauling of gravel for
the township were called for. There.
was just one tender, George Rad-
ford, of Blyth. This was accepted
on motion of J. Ira Rapson and W.
R. Jewitt, for crushing and delivery
of 10,000 yards of gravel' at 67c
per yard, subject to approval of the
district engineer. On motion •of T.
Leiper and W. R. Jewitt, council
will pay their share of 335.00 to-
ward the helmets for the fire bri-
gade at Seaforth. Geo. C. Brown
and W. R. Jewitt moved that coun-1
oil strike 316.60 for May Bros. and
314.30 spraying from the tax roll
as uncollectable taxes. A grant of
350 each to Clinton spring fair, and
Seaforth and Blyth fall fairs, on
motion 'of Tom Leiper and Geo. C.
Brown. Accounts passed: .Fox
