Bert Thomson, Kippen, a son. Mr. Bruce Glenn of Toronto visit- ed this week with' his parents, Mr. and Mrs, John M. Glenn. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scene and family were weekend visitors with relatives and friends in Ridgetown, Mr, Geo.` Elliott ,was removed to St. Joseph's Hospital, London, by ambulance where he is receiving treatment, His many friends are pleased to hear he is improving. Henry J. Purdy Mr. Henry 3. Purdy, 87, died at the home .of his daughter, Mrs, Bert Selves, Usborne Twp. on Sat- urday, Jan. 24th. He came to this district from England when 6 years Green- way, age, and spent his lifein G een- way, Clandeboye and Hensall dis- trict, He was a meniber of Hensall United Church and a member of Hensall Orange Lodge. Surviving are a son Len, Hensall, and one daughter, Mrs. Bert Selves, Us - borne, two sisters, Mrs, Susan Cul - lis, Sarnia, and Mrs. Sarah Flaght, Pontiac, Mich. Funeral services were held from the Bonthron funeral home on Mon- day, conducted by the Rev. W. J, Rogers. Interment in Hensall Union Cemetery. Mr. Arthur Parker is holidaying at the hone of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Parker. Mrs. Alex Hildebrand and Mar- ney spent the weekend with rela- tives in Windsor. Mrs, Nelson of Goderich visited during the past week with her moth- er, Mrs, Ida Jackson. Dr. Win. T. Joynt of London spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Alice Joynt. Mrs. Alvin Passmore of Thames Road visited recently with her sist- er, Mrs. Lawrence Baynham. Mrs. Pearl Case, who is spending the winter months with her mother, Mrs. J. Reid in London, visited dur- ing the past week with friends here. Mrs. Clarence Knight and babe who have spent the past two weeks at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Bell, returned to her home this week. Amber Rebekah Lodge Entertains Following the regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge 349, Hensall, on Wednesday evening, the mem- bers entertained a number of guests at a progressive euchre party in the lodge rooms. Ladies first prize was won by Mrs, Letitia Sangster • con- solation, Mrs. J. Henderson; Gent's first prize, Mr. J. Henderson; Special prize was won by Mrs. Ross Richard- son. Croldnole prizes were won 'by Mrs, Garnet Mousseau and Miss Donna c auction was Taylor. A. dutch a c Y held on an angel cake, which was won by Mr. Laird Jacobi. Proceeds of the evening were for the C. P. and T. Fund. During the regular lodge meeting Sister Letitia Sang- ster, who recently moved to Lon- don, was presented with an emblem pin. Thompson in Stratford. We are !pleased to report Mr. Ro- bert Thompson is slowly improving` in health at the home of his daugh- ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Schneider in Stratford. Mr, N. Dickert and Mr. Thomas Butt spent a day in Toronto re- cently. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Westlake and children of Zurich visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, A. Gaekstetter. Quite a number from here at- tended the Hay Twp. Federation of Agriculture annual meeting and banquet in the Zurich Community Centre on Thursday evening last. Next Monday night, Feb, 2, the group will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Earle Lawson. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Oke were guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Clarke. Mr. and Mrs. Earle Lawson and Mr. Leslie Lawson were in -London on Monday, Mr. and Mrs. K. T. Adams ' of Centralia spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Adams, Mr, and Mrs. Borden Brown and family were guests on (Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Ernest' Beggins, Elmwood, where a turkey dinner was given in honor of Mrs. Brown's father, Mr. Thomas Biggins who celebrated his 85th birthday.
