her sister-in-law, Mrs. C. Seinton,
who has been ill at her' home in

Miss Kartushyn Addresses Institute
The January meeting a the Hen -
sail Women's Institute was held in
the Legion Hall on Wednesday even-
ing with the President, Mrs. George'
Armstrong in the chair. Following
the opening exercises and the busi-
nesse Miss Mattie Ellis favored with
an interesting and humorous read-
ing. The guest speaker, Miss iCartu-
shyn, teacher of home economies at
Exeter District High School, was in-
troduced by Mrs, Armstrong. The
speaker in her pleasing manner gave
an interesting and beneficial ad-
dress on economically purchasing
food and clothing. Miss Greta .Lam-
tnie gave a delightful piano instru-
mental. A, vote of thanks was ex-
tended to the guest speaker and
those taking part in the program
which was arranged by Mrs. Archie
Mac Gr ego r. Refreshments were
served by Mrs. R. J. Paterson, con-
venor and her assistants,
Mrs. J. McCloy and children of
Toronto are visiting with Mrs. Mc-
C1oy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.

A pretty mid -winter wedding was
solemnized ni .Empress Avenue Unit-
ed Church, London, on Saturday,
when ' Betty Caroline Simile, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Scale,
Hensall, exchanged marriage ve*s
with Frank Clifford Cousins, of
London, son of Mr, and Mrs, Wil-
liam Weymouth, Toledo, Ohio; the
Rev. Andrew Boa officiated.
Given in marriage by her father
the bride was gowned in white satin
styled with fitted bodice, collar of
chantilly Lace and bustled full skirt
extending to a chapel train. Her
fingertip veil was held by a head-
dress of seed pearls and she carried
a bouquet of red roses. Miss Corrine
Smale was her sister's maid of hon-
or in a gown of yellow satin, carry-
ing deep pink carnations, and Mrs.
Donna Thomas was bridesmaid, in
green net over satin, carrying pale
pink carnations. James Cousins of
Toledo, brother of the groom, was
best man.
At a reception at the Cobblestone
Inn, the bride's mother received in
a black and white dress with a red
rose corsage. The groom's mother
received in a wine suit with yellow
rose corsage.
For a wedding trip to Central
States the bride changed 'to a green
dress with black ' accessories. The
couple will reside in London.
HULLETT
Inaugural meeting of the Hullett
Township Council was held Jan. 12
in the Community' Hall, Londesboro
at 11 a.m. The Reeve and all mem-
bers of the Council were present.
The Clerk read tib Declaration of
office and all members ' subscribed
sane and were duly sworn in for
the year 1953. The meeting then
adjourned for lunch.
The Council met again at 2 p.m.
after being guests of the Clerk,
Geo. W. Cowan and Mrs, Cowan for
dinner. The minutes of the statutory
meeting of Dec. 16, and the special
meeting of Dec. 20 were read.
Motion by Geo. Brown and Toni
Leiper, that the minutes of meetings
Dec. 16 and Dec. 20 be adopted as
read. Carried. The correspondence
was then read. A letter from the
Salvation Army requesting a grant.
Also one from the Huron Crop Im-
provement Association.

itt, that we make a grant of $25.00
to the Salvation Army and a grant
of $15 to Huron Crop Improvement
Association for their. Seed Fair to
be held in Clinton. Carried.

discuss the subject "Embarrassing
Surpluses." After the discussion
period, Mr. Donald Buchanan pres-
ented film which were much enjoy-
ed, Mr. and Mrs. 'Earl Lawson in-
vited the forum to their home for
next meeting, Jan, 26th.
Group 2 of the W.A. with Mrs,
Geo, Leitch as leader, will hold a
bazaar on Friday afternoon at the
home of Mite. Frank Riley,
