The January meeting of the C. G. I. T. was held in the schoolroom of the "L'ttite,l Church on Saturday aft- ernoon with a large attendance, The Meeting opened with the call to worship by Edna Martin, - scripture lesson read by Barbara Patterson, prayer by Edna Martin. McDonald, The January meeting of the Wo- men's Association of Walton United Church met on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the President, Mrs. Turnbull presiding. The meeting opened with hymn 571. A Collect, by Mary Stewart followed by the Lord's Prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was then given by Mrs. Holmes with a balance of $743,23 on hand, Several items of business were dealt with. It was de- cided to have a+ potluck supper for the annual meeting in the near fu- ture. The meeting closed with the Mizpalt Benediction. Word has been received of the'tlenth of Rev, F. W. Craik nt Alliston. The Canadian Bank of Commerce 139.2 • TUCKERSMITH The Tuelcersmith Ladies' Club held their January meeting at the hone of Mrs. R. Brown with 18 members and 5 visitors present, The meeting opened with the opening Ode followed by a song, "Bring back my Bonnie". Then all reports were given, Several business topics were discussed, Program consisted of a reading •by Mrs. Roberts and a con- test by Mrs. H. Johns won by Mrs. E. Townsend. It was decided to do- nate a blanket to both Seaforth and Clinton Hospitals, also decided to give $10. to March of Dirties, and 510 to Ambulance Fund, and Turn- er's Church $20. A song entitled, "I don't want to play in your Yard" was sung. The meeting closed with Homemakers' Prayer. The next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Greg McGregor, the roll call—Everybody (including visitors) brings a 5 -cent comic val- entine. BRODHAGEN Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Querengesser and Mrs. Henry L, Diego! were guests of Mr, and Mrs. Martin Diegel last Thursday on the occasion of Mr. Die. gel's 44th birthday. Rev, and 31i's. W. Mr. John Mueller of Hamilton at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Aug. McKILLOP Mrs, Ed Godkin presided for the devotional exercises of the January meeting of the Bethel W.M.S. which met in the Church. The hymn, "Breathe on me Breath of God" was sung. Mrs. Ross Leeming read the scripture lesson. Prayers were offered by Mrs, R. Hulley, Nix's. R. Leeming, Mrs. J. Thornton and Mrs. L. Leeming. A poem "Friendship's Joy" was read by Ethel Dennis, who had charge of the study book. She was assisted by Mrs. W. Roe and Tennie Dennis. Mrs. S. Hillen con- ducted the W. A. business meeting. WINTHROP On Monday evening in Winthrop hall a farewell party- was held for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davidson and family. The early part of the even- ing was spent playing progressive euchre, prize winners being ladies' high, Mrs. Glen Haase; gent's, Mr. A ustin Dolmage; ladies' low, Mrs. George Pethick; gent's low, Wilber Godkin. After lunch was served Mr. and Mrs. Davidson were called to the platform where an address was read by Ethel McClure and a purse of money was presented by Mrs. Al- ntira Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. Da- vidson replied in a few well chosen words and dancing followed to nm - sic supplied by Glen Haase's record player and local talent. The address is as follws: Dear Mr. and Mrs. Davidson, Ron- nie, Jacqueline and Kenny,—We, your friends and neighbors have gathered together tonight to spend a social evening with you before Your departure to your new home in Stratford. It was with feelings of deepest regret that we learned that You are so soon to leave our midst. You will be greatly missed in the community, but as Stratford is not so far away, we hope to see you back again among us. As a token of our esteem we would ask you to ac- cept this gift and hope that it may remind you of your Winthrop friends. We trust that you may be long spared to enjoy happiness, health and 'prosperity in your new home. Psalm 121 was read responsively, after which .prayer on Guidance was given in unison. Mrs. Dodds took the chair for the W.1VI,S, part of the meeting. Hymn 887 was sung, and the minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Mrs. GilbertSmith gave a Steward- ship reading, "To -morrow is God's Secret, but today is ours to Live".. The offering was received and re- sponse sung. Mrs. Wim Church gave the topic on Education for living, and Literature from the study book, "Along Africa Trails". Mrs. Ed Mil- ler and Mrs. George Case read the scripture. readings. Mrs, Oscar Cuth- 01 offered prayer for Africa, Hymn 182 was sung and Mrs. Church closed the meeting with prayer.
