'About forty young ,people were en-
tertained at the home of Howard and
Mary Johns on Tuesday evening of
last week. 'sk short program \vas given
with (Gladys Johns in charge. A verse
of each of two hymns was sung. Mr.-
Wes. Johns led in •prayer. The Scrip-
ture Lesson. 'Acts 3..1410, ati•.•ts react'hv
Elgin Skinner. Marion Miners read a
poem, "Such as T Have." A Biblical
contest - was .worked out, Lorne 'El-
ford sang two numbers 'accompanying
himself on the guitar. After singing a
verse of another hymn several .games
were much enjoyed. A dainty hunch
:was -served a4 the close.
Some very interesting lantern slides
showing '101d Country Scenes," were
shown in the church on Friday even-
ing :of last. week.
Mr, and Mrs. Rich. Johns and
Bessie were. in London on Sunday to
sec Mrs. johns' sisters.
Mass'Ruby Miners of Exeter Who
recently underwent an operation .for
thyroid trouble al St. ,Jioseph's'Hos-
pital, we are pleasect to report, is
making a- satisfactory recovery and

After the lire which destroyed 'itis
home oil Turitbcrry St. north, one
morning over a month ago, 'Mir. Wil-
liam Cook has erected a stsatl meat
cottage. It was hurried along before
the winter sets in —Brussels Post.
WINTER WEATHER
The stormy weather of the past
few day's has heen responsible for a
number of accidents. A car driven by
Mr. Thomas J. 'Adams, 'Tnckersmith,
collided head-on with a car from
Winrgltam driven by Mr, W. G. Ham-
ilton, telephone manager of Wing -
ham. The accident 'happened Satur-
clay afternoon on N'o. 8 highway a
mile west of Seaforth. Mrs. Adams
was painfully cut and suffered a frac-
tured knee. Obher occupants were
shaken up and had .minor cuts and
bruises. Mr. and Mrs. Adams and the
hired men, Mr. Pat .Curtin, were re-
turning 130111 leafonth and were with-
in a mile of home when the era;alt oc-
curred as they were on the last turn.

On Monday a Toronto car skidded
while attempting to stop behind a
wagon on tlae highway a half a mile
east of Seaforth. Tt slid across the
road hi front of a car driven by d':il-
hert .Smith of McKillop who swerv-
ed into the guard rail. damaging the
car,
During Wednesday evening's blind-
ing snowstorm a car was reported in
the ditch a short distance east of
town. having wandered oil` the road.

The community was .hocked to
hear of the sudden and unexpected
death of Mrs. William john Pollock.
who passed away Tuesday evening,
New. 21,1rd, following a two-day ill-
ness. She was a daughter of Mr. and
Jnr . ',lames Armstrong, Bronson line,
Stanley. She was barn ':Tan, (stir, 14116.
and in 1111148 married 'William J. `l'01-
tock, They lived forty-six years on
their farm an the Go -hen line Stan-
ley. where Mfr. 'Pollock died 37' years
ago. Since 'his dearth she made her
home with her son, if. E. Pollock,
Bayfield road, The funeral was held
Nov. 26th. After a ,private service at
the home a public service was held 'at
Knox Presbyterian Church Bayfield,
Rev. Gordon Peddie conducting the
service, during which Mrs. Jas, Bon-
thron of Hensall, sang a very pleas-
ing solo, The deceased leaves to
mourn her loss. three daughters and
two sons, Olive ('MN. H. V. Van-
stoae), Kemble; Mae (Mrs. A, 1.
Copeland), Toronto; Milton on the
Cosi-len line and Florence and Ernest
on the Hayfield road. The floral trih-
Utes were beautiful and were carried
by two nephews of deceased. Mr. Ar-
chie Scott and .Mr. Lawrence Scott
and Mr. Jas. McGee. Interment took
place in Rayfield cemetery. The pall-
bearers were Thomas Stephenson.

ner recited some very splendid pieces.
Refreshments were served by the
