The Temperance electors of the
riding of Harron in the °Meeio Leg-
isl'ature at a meeting assembled by a
very large majority endorsed the
candidature of 'Dr. R. H. Taylor, of
Hashwrood, the ,Conservative nominee,
on account of the statement .neade by
hint at the meeting as to his stand on
Tenrpertance ,in general 'and the pre-
sent Temperance Legislation in parti-
culler. Dr. Taylor made the state-
ment 'that the would if elected, use
his rote and inlfluence in the House
to further in every way the passing
of legislation closing the beverage
rooms in Huron, as be was conscien-
tious in the belief that they were a
menace to the youth of our country.

The September meeting of the

held at the
home of Miss Margaret Leybourne on
Wednesday afternoon, 'Opened . by
singing tite lnstitalte Ode followed by
repeating the Lord's Prayer. The roll
call was well answered by a helpful
proverb or verse. A short coursee in
home utilization of wool is to he ,held
the latter part of ,October. Community
singing „Long, Long Ago." Program
on historical research was under the
leadership of Mrs. Paul Doig: A solo
"leirc'at Granddad" by 'Jean :Gemmel),
accompanied by Joe Edge on the pi-
ano. Housework in the early days was
the interesting topic taken by Mrs.
Paul mDaig. Among other interesting
things she told how they matte lye and
soalp, and washed their blankets by
tramping on. -them, They cooked by
pots over fireplaces and (Dutch ovens.
Threshing: They took the gangs with
theta and stayed ahcnit two weeks and
ate several pigs and cattle during t'beir
stay. They scrubbed the floors with
ashes and sand. Brooms were made
from elm blocks shredded fine. An
enjoyable reading, "The !Pedestria,"
by Mrs. Wilfred Coleman. After-
wards lunch was served and a social
time was spent,

The protest ,regarding the match
played at Seaforth with St. Colnumban,
was held in Walton on Tuesday
evening, September 7, The protest
committee consielted of three Walton
men chosen by the President.
The 'protest 'committee upheld the
referee's -decisions in ;,disall'ow'ing the
disputed goal. Therefore 'the Seaforth
team beat St. Colon -Man 2-1
The protest committee also barred
Tom Sjils 'front 'future playing be-
cause 'he arrived hone ,five days over-
due. He had ,played four semi-final
games.
ITIh'e committee ordered the St. Col -
timbale game to be played over with
fifty-fifty gate split.
The .management of the Seaforth
