WEBSTER FAMILY PICNIC
The Webster fancily picnic was
held on June ID at the Smntner
School grounds s t (inrlerich with the
family from the North in ,charge of
arrangements, lie: ring the visiting
friends south ut Clinton free of re-
sponsibility. With perfect weather
andnl groitd-s, and accommodations
excellent a very enjoyable clay was
spent.
After justice had ;been clone to a
very fine dinner the sports commit-,
tee ran off a number of :very inter-
esting events, also a spirited gauze of
softball between the North ' and
South was very much enjoyed by a11.
Thomas Webster of Dungannon as
president and the staff of eitlicers
were re-elected for another year.
The next picnic will be held on the
third Saturday in )site, 1938, at the
Summer School grounds,

The hone of 'Mr. and Mrs. Thonas
Rands, 'Seaforth; was the scene of a
happy event at high neon at Satur-
day, June '19, when 'their only daugh-
ter, Annie Maybelle, was united in
marriage to Guy C. 'Ryan, Ln of the
late Mr. and Mrs. George Ryan of
Lncan. (Rev. T. A. Carmichael of
Northside United Church, officiated.
Mrs. Irwin Trewartha played the
wedding music, The 'bride, gowned in
white IFrench chiffon and wearing a
tulle veil with 'orange blossoms, car-
ried a hottquet of pink roses. She was
given in •marriage by her father. The
matron of honor, Mrs, Nelson 'Reid
of Walton, wore a gown of yellow
chiffon with 'broad ,brimmed yellow
hat and Talisman roses, The bride-
groom was supported by -Nelson

Lave You Truly." :Following the cer-
emony the guests repaired to the
dining roost which was beautifully
decorated with mixed 'flowers, where.
a delicious Puncheon was served to
the immediate relatives Of the con-
tracting partiesand a few friends; af-
ter which Mr. and Mrs. Ryan left on
a trip to Ottawa, and points east. The
bride chose for 'traveling a navy
sheer snit with white accessories. On
their .return they will reside on the
bridegroom's farm mar Lucan.

ANNUAL LIVE STOCK
JUD.GIING COMPETITION
The 111th annual Herron County
Live Stock ;fudging Competition was
held in the 'Bayttield district 011
Thurscl'ay, (fume (!7th, under the direc-
tion of the T-Iuran County Branch of
the :Ontario Department of Agricul-
ture. 39 boys took pant in this com-
petition which was open to all boys
in the county 2'6 years of age and
under.
Two classes each of heavy horses
beef cattle, dairy cattle. sheep and
swine were judged on the following
fauns; Colin Campbell, Bayfield:
Witt. 'Sparks, Bayfield; .Elmer Reyes,
Varna; R. M. IPeck. Zurich; Colin
Lawson, Bayfield, and Alfred Warn-
er, Baylfield. In addition to the above
farmers, Joe Greer of Bayfield and
Art. d1. Keyes, Varna, supplied ani-
mals to complete the two classes in
horses.
The judges who placed the classes
and scored the contestants in oral
reasons are as follows: Heavy horses,

Tile prize list was divided into jun-
ior and senior sections, 117 boys tak-
ing part nn the junior section and 22
boys competing in the senior section.
In each section a silver trophy - was
awarded to the high 'boy and fire
cash prizes of $5, $4, $3, 2. and IR
were awarder' to the next ranking in-
dividuals. Mr. Ail'bert Taylor, of
Laoknow, won the silver trophy in
the senior section with a score of 697
points out of a possible 7)510, and Edi-
son Forrest of 'R•ippen won the tro-
phy in the junior section with a score
of 6166 .points.
