'president, Mrs. Laing led in prayer.
T1te reports of the secretary and
treasurer were read and adopted.
Mrs, Laing dedicated a short poets,
composed by herself, to the Honorary
. President, Mrs, jas. Beattie,
Circle 6, with Mrs. J. Mantas!) as
captain, there" took charge of the devo-
tional part of the meeting. The 'hymn.
'Tight the good .fight with all your'
might," was ting. "I his was followed
"by prayer by Mrs. Mel!ntosh. The
subject was 'Testis is passing hy." The
scripture reading was taken by Mrs.
Storey from Luke 250. Mrs, Frost read
a poen?. The call for help was read
by Miss Somerville, We each have
,oar cross to bear, The work among
Indians in Canada was read by Mrs.
Lawson and Mrs. Scott. Then
Mrs, Lawson read about the Orient-
als in Canada, The offering was re-
ceivedand the roll was called. An-
other hymn was sung anti the meet-
ing was closed by repeating the
Lord's prayer,

of the death of a 'brother, James ID.
,Dickson at ]Utica, .\^:Y., 011 Tuesday,
Juane 1115. Since his retirement a few
years ago as principal df Niagara
hails (lOnt.) Collegiate Institute. Mr,
Dickson had 'been living air !Utica.
Born near Seaforth,- he was a son of
the late lir. and 'Mrs. Charles Dick-
son, and his early years were spent
on the homestead, lot :36, coo. 6, 'Mc-
Killop. He taught school in S:S. No.
11; 'Grey twp.. for three years, and
later ,grad:nated from "Toronto univer-
sity as a specialist in , mathematics.
In 11808-89 he taught in Seaforth Col-
legiate and then at Brockville for
,three years, going to !Niagara 'Falls,
Ont., in 1803 es first principal of the
newly -erected Collegiate, a position
he held for thirty-three years. He is
survived by his widow, formerly Jean
Beattie, of Lansdowne, ?Ont., and
three sons, Dr. Charles and Dr. Wil-
liam Dickson, Utica, [N.Y., Dr. 'Allan
Dickson, Amsterdam, 'NY. and a
daughter,.'Miss !Janet Dickson; a lib
rarian at Salt Lake City, Iowa; also
surviving are three 'brothers, Mr. Pet-
er Dickson, !Winnipeg; Mr. !George
Dickson, 'Chic'a'go, and ,M/r, Thomas
Dickson, Seaforth, Burial will take
place at Utica, N.Y.

Ideal weather, blue skies and balmy
'breezes smiled on the Huron Old
Boys Association at their annual pic-
nic at Exhibition (Park on Saturday
last. There was a tine attendance
front all parts of the county and the
enthusiasm was stronger than ewer.
The proceedings opened with base-
ball and supper was served in the
Transportation building at 16 p.nt. and
the remainder of the evening was de-
voted to races until dark.

Last Wednesday, for the 30th tisk
rhe members of the Forrest and Luvc
clans gathered at Bayfield. There
were about 112)5 .members present
Those who were early enough enjoy-
ed
njoyed a good: chicken dinner. Sports were
held in the afternoon in spite of the
rain which ended the ball game at
the fourth inning. Everybody visite('
under the trees until supper. :after-
wards the executive for 1938 was ap-

After the reading of the devotional

Jno. Forrest. The text word 'begin-
ning with the letter O. Mrs. Harvey
Moore contribtited a pleasing solo.
Mrs. Jas. :Wan led in prayer. The
topic from the study book was ably
'taken by 'Arise E. Elford,' After sing-
ing a hymn a dainty innch was serv-
ed and a social half hour.was enjoyed
by all.

was Hannah Spencer, daughter of the
lake Maria Lucas and John 'Spenea11,
of Liverpool, :England. She cause to
Canada at the age of thirteen years.
Aifte'r residing near Clandeboye, she
moved to IEgntond'ville 418 years ago.
She was united ice -marriage March 2)1,
1897, to William 'Kruse. She .has
since resider near 'Egmandvilie.
'Her death dame suddenly,_ ,the de-
ceased being ill only a half hour.
,Death was due to a very severe
stroke.
She leaves to mourn her loss her
husband, four daughters, AIrs, \\'m.

The funeral took place from the
fancily residence, Monday afternoon,
to St. Thomas' Anglican Church. In-
terment was in the Egmondville cem-
etery. Canon Appleyard officiated,

Many beautiful floral tributes were
received from relatives and friends.
