The men of Egmondville United Church, numbering around fifty, held a very successful wood bee in David IM'cLean's bush last Tuesday alter- aroon,-outting wood for the church. Mrs. Eph. Clarke and Miss Viola and Doreen of Constance visited at Russell Coleman's Tuesday afternoon Mr. Earlin Whitmore, who went to Stratford hospital for an operation on kis eyes returlted home Tuesday, the operation ping successful. His many friends were pleased ,to hear of his •iintpro v ern ent. ANNUAL MEETING OF CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE Reports read at the annual meet- ing of the C. W. L. held recently, showed that the past year, with its many and varied activities; has been tt particularly successful• one for the Seaforth sorb -division, Generosity and co-operation of the members in all undertakings orate it possible for the League `to meet all its 'financial obli- gations, as also to assist in national, diocesan and .parochial needs. The stricken West was helped 'by dona- tions of money to the Sisters of Ser- vice, to Regina ,Dioc. Fund and to a Memorial Chapel. Three large boxes of clothing and literature were also sent to the Welfare Bureau at Ed- monton to be distributed there, At Easter, crates of eggs were sent to the Catholic Charitable Institutions in London. {Parochial needs received the most attention. A cash donation and prizes given to ,the lawn social and a beautiful electric ,light fixture for the church, donated. Social ser- vice work was an important part cif League acti'ity, food and clothing'be- ing supplied where necessary. The children were atlso remembered at Christmas with treats of candy, etc. A donation of 915.00 was made to the Lions Milk Fund. In the interest: ni education, prizes were awarded for Christian Doctrine and for entrance examination. Visiting committees were appointed for 'the hospital, the sick and the new -comers to the par- ish. 'The financial; statement was read by the retiring treasurer, Mrs. W. Hart, showed the receipts to he $384,- 73; expenses, $31414.43; balance, $40.30. Rev, Father 1 -Insley was present at the tweeting and complimented the la- dies on the excellent work they had accomplished and encouraged them to ,persevere. All last year's officers were returned for the coming year, with the exception of the treasurer, 71re,-1iart, whose term had expired.
