Death of Mrs. Wm, Hoggarth
,Mrs. '\Viltiania Hoggarth, a well
known, resident of u'ckersmith, -passed
away, at the home of her daughter,
Airs, J Ingram, of (Hay Tp., on Wed-
nesday, January 1131th. Mrs, :Hoggarth
Chad 'beenvisiting in tHensalll with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs, Wesley 'Green, She had been in
nether poor health for a week or so,
(hut was feeling considerably improv-
ed and had gone to spend a few days
,with her other dtughte'r and son-in-
law. M:r, and Airs. J. Ingram of Hay
Tp, where she took a relapse and de-
spite the best of nursing and medical
'oare, passed away. She was former-
ly Mise Jean 'Davis, born at 'Staffs. 67
years ago, daughter of the 'late Mr.
and Mrs. William Davis of Staffa.
She was married to M'r. William
•Hoggarth tubout 317 years ago. She
was a devout member of Carmel
Presbyterian Church. She .leaves to
mourn 'her loss her .husband, \V.m,
(Hoggarth, of 'Tuckeremitdt, two dau-
ghters, Mrs, Wesley !Green of 'Hen.

The funeral .was held front her late
home in Tuckersm'ith on Friday after-
noon with interment in Cromarty ce-
metery, .Rey \V. A. Young, her past-
or, having charge df the .funeral ser-
vice assisted by Rev, Mr, Reidie of
'Cronsarty, The pallbearers were all
neighbours , of the deceased, being
Win. Doig, Wn1. Workman, john
MdGregor, John .McCloy, Angus Mc-
Kinnon and John Kiley. The •floral
tributes were .numerous and beautiful,
showing the high esteem in which
Hoggarth was held by all who
knew her. 'During She service Rev.
and Mrs. Young sang a 'duet,
Rev. Beverly Farr of 'Dorchester,
and a former recor of St. Paul's An-
glican Church, was visiting with
friends in ,town 'last week.
Airs, Robert ,Green is visiting in
Moose Lake, Minn„ with her mother,
-who is in very poor health.
The 'band concert, euchre and
dance which was held in the town hall
Wednesday evening last sponsored by
the Hensall s 'Citizen,' Rand, despite
the unfavorable weather, was well at-
ttended and a most pleasant time
enjoyed. Some fifty tables were in
,play. The prizes for the euchre were,
lady's first Mrs, 'Lloyd 'Veinier;
lady's second, Miss Jean McQueen;
genes first, Mr. Edwin 'Dick; gent's
second, Mr. Lloyd Veinier; lucky eu-
chre chairs, Mrs, Anna McDonald
and Miss Lois McOlinclney; spot
dance, Mrs, Clive Cochrane, The

fifty years, He was 'treasurer of Hay-
field school board until a few years

of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Percy 'Dyment,
!Detroit, After a short private funer-
al at his late residence a public ser-
vice was held at Trinity Anglican
Church.

spent on Friday evening last by the
choir of 'St. _Andrew's 'ITnited Church
in the basement of .the catarrh, it be-
ing an oyster supper, also a bountiful
s tt ply of cakes, pus and. othereat-
'titles to snit the tastes of all attend-

choir, was chairman of she evening

the choir .for the harmony and good

The annual meeting of the f.atlics'
Aid of Carmel Church was held on
Friday afternoon. January 115th, at 3
o'clock at the home. of Mrs, .Frank
Farquhar. The meeting opened by
singing hymn 65"Jesus Lover of my
Soul," with the president, ,Mrs, B. C.
Edwards, presiding. The treasurer's
report proved very interesting, Vari-
ous rou.ps reported their proceeds
and gave an.outline of their year's

a few well chosen words of apprecia-
tion, and thanks to she executive and
group leaders for their splendid co-
operation for the past year, The elec-

The president, Miss Hannah Alto -ray,

'Relatives in town reeeivcd ward on
Sunday of the death of Lloyd Stacey,
youngest son of John and the late
Mrs. Stacey of 1Hens•ali, Mr. Stacey
had been in poor health for some
time, Irle .passed away in Hamilton
Hospital on Sunday. He was in Hen -
salt about -13 years ago, and spent his
younger days here • living in later
year. at Simeae. He leaves to nrottrn
his loss his widow- and five children,
who reside in Si•nene, his father, ,ler.
John Stacey, and one brother, Ern-
est. :both of the village. The funeral
was held from his home on Tuesday,
interment at Simcoe. He was a neph-
ew of Mrs, David Cantelot and. Mrs.
E. Rennie of Hensel!, who attended
the funeral
