When the council tried topurchase
neats' foot oil this week for preserv-
ing bc'llts at the flour mill it was
found that none could be had in town.
It is not so many years ago that
,teats' foot oil was in great demand,
especially. for harness, but changing
conditions have restilted in the call for
it dropping to practically nil. It is
now brought in only on special order,
11 sells around $2 a gallon. One harn-
ess maker recalls they used to buy a
half barrel al a time.

Church held their regular meeting on
Thursday, August 9th in the school
room of the church. The meeting op-
ened with a hymn and prayer by Mrs.
James Iliachley, 2nd vice president,
Mrs. Robt. 'Archibald acting presid-
ent presiding .over the business per-
iod l -Ars. J. C. Laing extended an in-
vitation to meet at her home at a so-
cial nteet'ing to be held the last week
of August, this meeting to take the
'form of a rally or get-together 'meet-
ing at the close - of the holiday sea-
son. Mrs. 'C. ;Mew, captain of Group
No. 2, wide her group, gave the pro-
gram. A reading, "The Resurrection,"
by Mrs. alar, Crich. "Holidays with
Our Missionaries," was the topic, ta-
ken by \irs i.f.'eGavtn and Mrs. Arch-
ibald Mfrs, Crich presented a beaati-
ful basket of flowers in loving mem-
ory- of 3Ir;. Robt. 'Sc'arlett, a faithful
'member of their •group, Otie of Mrs.
Sea'rlettis favorite hymns was then
sung. A solo by Mrs, A. ,MctGavin,.
acconipanietl by Miss Marguerite
Tea 's of Toronto, which was very
much appreciated. The meeting was

SCHOOL PICNIC
The annual picnic of the scholars
and teachers of the Sunday School
of St, Thomas' Church was held at
B'ayflel'd on Wednesday, led by the
rector, Canon Appleyard. There was
a good attendance and a very enjoy-
able time was spent. The sports were

discussed and a motion passed for the
customary two weeks' holidays,
,Atayitr Sutherland said the new re
lief regulations had not been received
but he was not in favor of the new
cash relief system. Councillor John-
stone differed,. "It is the best thing
yet," he said.
