Mr. Norman 70. Cook recently re-
ceived a telegram of the death of his
cousin Garnet Magel in Detroit in his
5tltll year. . The deceased was well-
knownhere and in Zurich where he
spent his childhood clays. Tae is sur-
vived by his widow, a daughter Elea-
nor Jane, his mother, a sister and a
brother.
Mr. George Armstrong was re-
_ elected by soelaination at the Hay
nomination sleeting held in Zurich on
Monday, for his sixth terns as reeve.
He was former warden of the county
and is a successful farmer.

Funeral services were held on Mon-
day from the hone of Mrs. Alex Bru-
nette, Highway 4, for Robert Row-
r)iffe, tvho died in 011nton on Christ
mas Day, and was cottc1eted by Rev.

Church. Tho deceased was in his 85th
year and had spent the greater part
of his life in this district until he
went to Clinton seven years ago. His
wife predeceased him in 1914. One
sister, Mrs. Samuel Pym of Rlimville,
survives. Interment in. Exeter Ceme-
tery. The pallbearers were six neph'
ewe, Archie, Oliver and Elgin Row -
cliffs,' Hensall, Alvin and Ewart Pym,
Melville, and Peter Eleenbach, Grand
Bend.

Lewis E. Aldivorth ' died at the
home of itis son-in-law in Brussels
:after an illness of some months. Sae
was a life long resident of Godorioh 1
Township, having farmed on the,
Blue Water highway for 44 years af-
ter 'which he retired to live with his
daughter and son-in-law, Leslie
Bei>•nes, Morris Township. IIe was a
son of the late William and Susan
Aldworth, of Goderich Township, His
wife predeceased him in 1924. There
remains to mourn his loss two sons
and four daughters, Frank and Lloyd
of Waterloo, Ruby (Mrs. Dempsey),
'of. Goderich Township,• Pearl (Mrs.
Betimes) of Morris Township; Laura,
(Mrs. Warner) of Goderich Township,
and Roxey (Mrs. Eastman of Royal
Oak, Mich. There are eleven grand-
children and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was held from the resid-
ence of his son-in-law, Leslie Biernes,
Service conducted by the Rev. S.
Kerr, with interment in the family
Plot at Bayfield.
Late Mrs. William Johnston —
The death occurred in Loudon of
Elizabeth Letitia, Dignan, wife of the
late William G. Johnston, in her 75111
year, The deceased was the eldest
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Warren G. Dignan of Hay Township
and was boric October lQtlr, 1869. In
1390 she was married to W. G. John-
ston, who passed away in 1901. She
leaves to mourn their loss, one son.

home; and seven grandchildren; also
three sisters, Ida, (Mrs. George

After a short illness Mr's. Melvin
Clark died at' her home in Goderich,
at the age of 76 year's. Mrs. Clark,
whose maiden name was Catherine
Little, was born near Brampton, the
daughter . of. Mr. and Mr's. Thomas
Little.: Before coining to Goderich 20 .
Years ago she lived at Clinton. Her .
husband, died six years ago. Surviv-
ing me. two sisters,. MI's. Charles
Glew of. London, and Mrs; Aaron'
Coates of Seaforth. Mrs. Clark was a
Presbyterian and the funeral was
oonductecd at her home by Rev. Rich-
ard Stewart of Goderich. Interment
was in •the Clinton temetery, the pall-
bearers being, George Little, Clarence
and Jack Sturdy, John, Ed. and Al-
fred Ilaggitt:
Mrs. E. Stone, Exeter —
The death occurred suddenly in
Exeter on Friday evening last of
Mrs. Edward Stone, who passed
away in her 78th year. Born on the
N.E. boundary of Usborne her maiden
name was Ellen Thomson, daughter of
the late James Thomson. Sixty years'
ago she was united in marriage with
Mr. Stone and they resided on the
8th concession of Tishman 'until 24
years ago when they retired and
took tip residence in Exeter. Besides
her bereaved husband site is sur-
vived by three sons, Edward, William
and Percy, and two daughters, Mrs.
Trueman F.leteher and Mrs. W. E.
-Fletcher, all of Usborhte; also three
brothers, Matthew Thomson, of Hits
belt; John, of Usborne and William.

A terrific gale came up suddenly
Hunanrecently an ro ec
up heavy seas that did considerable
damage to the pier at Grand Bend.
The waters rolled up over the cement
driveway leading to the pier, Coming
up suddenly it took the fishermen by
surprise and they had difficulty in
securing their boats and equipment.
Several pump houses along the lake
shore were washed away by . the
waves. There was some datnage at

Exeter of Mrs, Robert Ns Rowe, who
was formerly Elizabeth Ann Hollo-
way, of Clinton. The deceased had re-
sided in Exeter since her marriage in,
1887. Left.to mourn are her' husband
and throe daughters, Vera, Mrs. T.
M, Dinney (Itis) and'Reta. Also sur-
vivant; are three grandchildren,
