were shocked. on Saturday when
they learned Mr. Robert Dawson
had passed away very suddenly with
a heart attack on Friday night. The
funeral in the church Sunday was

HARLOCK
The Farm Forum meeting was
held this week on Monday night,
Dec. (ith at the home of Mr. .anrt
Mrs. Arthur Colson. It was decided
at the meeting last week which was
held at the home of Mr. and Mx,s.
Jack McEwing to hold the meeting
this week at liarlock school but as
Mr. and Mrs. Colson offered their
home, the invitation was gladly ac-
cepted. There was a good turn out,
most of the homes being represent-
ed. The evening program hearing the
radio roadcast after which the com-
pany was divided in three groups
and the discussion was on behalf of
health. The secretaries for the
groups were: No. 1, Mrs. Leo Watt,
No, 2, Mrs. Arthur Colson; No. 3,
Gordon' McGregor. The chairman
for the meeting. was Jim McEwing.
The remainder of the program for
the evening was managed by Mrs.
Leo Watt, having a couple of con-
tests for which prizes were given,
Mr, A. W. McTwing receiving the
prize for the 1st contest and Messrs.
Watson Reid and Thomas Knox for
the second contest. The company
then played progressive euchre. Mrs
I. Rapson won prize for most games
for ladies and Mrs. ,Tack McEwing,
who was playing as a man won all
the games, winning men's prize.
Lunch was then served of sand-
wiches and coffee. It was decided to
hold the meeting Monday night ' of
next week, Dec. 13th at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. McEwing.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rogerson and
children and Mrs. Wm. Pepper and
children of near Brucefield visited
on Sunday at the home of Mr. .and
Mrs. A. W. McEwing.
3.1fr. Geo. Brown was successful at
winning the vote at Harlock for the
reeveship on Monday of this week.
Mrs. Thomas Knox visited Mon-
day at the home of IVIr. and Mrs.
Audrey Knox.
Miss Jean Rapson, who is train-
ing for nurse at Stratford was
home over the week end.
Mr. Albert Rapson, John and
Jean visited on Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ranson in
Me K illop.
Mr. Albert Rapson expected to go
to London on Monday to visit his
wife who is in St, Joseph's Hespitat
Wo are pleased to know ,that Mr.
Simon McVittie is around again al-
though not looking very good.
The Nov. Meeting' of the Ladies
Aid, W.M.S. and Red Cross of Burns
Church, was held on Wed. afternoon
of last week Nov. 24th at the home
of Mr. and Mrs, Win. Bell. There
were 30 or more present. After the
business part of the meeting the
Ladies Aid held a Bazaar having for
Auctioneers, .Mrs; Bert Allan and
Mrs, Nelson Lear. The proceeds on
the Bazaar amounting to around $9.
Miss Martha Leiper secured the Red
Cross prize which was donated by
Mrs. Peter Taylor. A real good lunch
was served having extra from the
usual scalloped potatoes and a slice
of ham,
Mr. Simon McVittie had a run-
away last Wed. and was thrown from
the wagon and in still not in a good
condition, but we hope that he will
be around again.
The third "Farm Forum' meeting
of the farmers and family 1'h miles
was held on Monday eventig oS 1 his
week Nov. 29th, the house of Mr. and
Mrs. jack INA:Ewing. Over 30 were
present and after hearing the talk on
the radio and having a short talk and
distributing literature the evening
wile spent in a couple of contests and
spelling match which were conclud-
ed by Mrs. Watson Reid asisted by
Mr. Watson Reid, Mrs. Jack Me
rming and Mr. James MeEwing
winning both prizes for the contests.
A prize was also given for the party
staying up the longest in the spelling
math. Forfeits were paid by those
making a mistake ftr the first four
or five who made a mistake. It was
decided to hold the meeting Monday
night of next week Dec. (ith at Har-
i lock School House, Mr. Jack .Mc -
Ewing offered to take his radio to
the School, A good night and good
turn out is hoped for. A Lunch of
Sandwiches and coffee was served.
Messers Guy and Thomas Leiper,
recently purchased a driver. We
wish thein good luck.
There was a holiday at Harlock
School on Tuesday as Teachers were
supposed to go to Goderich to have
an examination for T. B.
Little Marjorie Knox visited her
Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Thomas
Knox, Tuesday.

The W. M, S. held its December
meeting on Wednesday last at the
home of the President, Mrs. Alan
Johnston, with a good attendance of
members and visitors. Mrs. A. M.
Grant presided, and the meeting
opened with singing'"Oh Come All
Ye Faithful," followed by prayer.
Mi-. W. E. Butt read the scripture
taken from St. Luke Chapter 2
verses 6-20, Mrs. E. Chipchase took
the third chapter from the study
book 'For all of Life," After the
business and election of officers the
candle -lighting service was held.
Those lighting candles were Mrs.
Montieth, Mrs. Mellis, Mrs. Johnston,
Mrs. T. Workman, Mrs. McBride,
Mrs. J. Bell. Mrs. 3. Henderson was
in charge of the music. The meeting
closed with singing the prayer hymn
"Lord of Light whose Name out-
shineth".
• The Mission Band held the Decem-
ber meeting on Sunday last meeting
with the congregation and proceed-
ing to the schoolroom immediately
before the sermon. The meeting was
opened with prayer by the leader,
followed by the prayer for peitee,
and the Lord's prayer in unison. The
children stood to repeat the Mission
Band Purpose in unison. Mrs. T.
Kay told the story of a Christmas
package that was sent by a Mission
Band to a Mission School in Trini-
dad and the adventures that follow-
ed until the Christmas present was
given to the little Trinidad girl at
the Mission Christmas tree. The
meeting closed by repeating the
Mizpah benediction in unison, kn.
T. Kay was appointed assistant mis-
sion Band leader by the Auxiliary at
the December meeting.
Miss Anna Damm returned to the
airport after a week's rest at home.
The farm forum of the 2nd and 3rd
concessions, Tuckersmith, met at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bell
On Monday night with an attendance
of 20 adults and ten children. The
discussion period was devoted to
health planning. Progressive euchre
was enjoyed the remainder of the
evening. A vote of thanks was tend-
ered Mr. and Mrs. Bell for their hos-
pitality. The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Jos.
McLellan.

The Autumn thank offeing meeting
the Goshen W.M. S. was held at
the home of Miss Hem in Varna with
Mrs. Richard Robinson in the chair.
The theme, "The Bible. the fiunda-

meeting opened by singing the hymn,
"Me Spirit breathes upon the word."
Mrs. Richard Robinson and Mrs,
John Armstrong read .the program in
the missionary monthly responsively.
The scripture lessons were read by
Mrs, Ben Keys, Mrs. Wm. Hayter and
Mrs. Elgin McKinley.. Prayer was of-
fered by Mrs. Henry Erratt and Mrs.
David Stephenson. The hymn "Come
ye thankful people -come." was rouses
