fortune to lose a valuable cow during
the week.
DUBLIN
A popular young farmer of %Iibbert
Township, Albert Melady, died in
Seaforth Hospital on Thursday night,
following a brief illness. He was the
son of Joseph Melady and the late
Mrs. Melady, and resided on a fano
on the Ord concession of Hibbert all
his life, He was in his 42nd year and
was a faithful member of St. CoI-
ImIban Church, of the Holy Name
Society, and the League of the
Sacred Heart, He was unmarried, and
is survived. by his father and five
brothers: Thomas S., Toronto; John
and James, Detroit; Frank, Parry
Sound, and Morris, Hibbert Town-
ship. The funeral, which was attend-
ed by a largo group of sorrowing
friends and neighbors, was held at
St. Coiumban Church on Monday
morning. Rev. F. 3., O'Drowskt sang
Requiem .High Mass and officiated at
the grave, Numerous floral tributes
and spiritual offerings were in evid-
ence. The pall bearers were: August
Ducharme, Joseph Doyle, John Nigh,
Emmett Malone, Joseph Flannery and
Michael Williams. Among those from
a distance attending the funeral were
Thomas S. Melady and daughter An-
gela, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. John
Melady and Mr. and Mrs. James'Me-
lady, Detroit; Frank Melady, Parry
Sound.
LONDESBORO
The regular meeting of the Red
Cross will be held inthe community
hall on Thursday, Dec. 2nd. There
will be quilting to be done, and a
bazaar, consisting of 01110ns, towels,
and, pillow cases. it will be a busy
afternoon, so Iadies, please come

"Two Country Bids," put on by the
Walton young people in the commun-

she will be well soon.

The euchre and dance hold in the
hall in aid of the Blood Donors Clin-
ic was well attended, The prize win-
ners were: Ladies most game.,, Mrs.
Kelly Dalton; lone hands, Mrs, Hob-
ert McClure; men's most giunes,
Thomas Yryce; lone hands, Arthur
Henderson, Consolation prizes went
to Mrs, James Hogg and M1'. Kelly
Dalton, •Sandwiches and coffee were
served, A few hours were spent in
dancing'. The music was furnished by
Miss Mae Smith, Mr. George Smith,
Mr. Robert Dodds and Mr. James.
Neilans, We thank the ladies for
bringing sandwiches and thank the
orchestra very much as they played
without charge. Mrs. EJaton gave a
paper on the use of blood. We -hope
for a very large attendance at the
next donors' day, Dec. 2nd. The pro-

quilts were quilted for Red Cross

has returned home.

Mr, E. Haase has built a shelter in
front of the mill, Mr. Robert Mc-
Clure and Mr. Roy Patrick did the

The W.M.S. and W.A. of Caven
Church, Winthrop, will hold their
annual meeting on Wed., Dec, lst in
the basement of the church. The top-
ic will be taken by Mrs. James Hogg.
A good attendance is requested.
McKILLOP
A pretty wedding was solemnized
at the home of Mr. and Mrs: William
Bennewies, IVlcltillop, on Saturday
afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, when their
eldest daughter, Ellen Emma Benne-
wies was married to Mr. Alvin Ar-
thur Schellenberger of Sebringville.
Rev, William Schultz of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church officiated. The
bride looked lovely in a street length
dress of wine velvet, her only orna-
ment a gold necklace, • gift of the
bridegroom. She carried a shower
bouquet of white chrysanthemums
and fern. Miss Vera Dennewies, sis-
ter of the bride, was bridesmaid,
wearing a British blue crepe street-
leng•th gown with velvet trim, and
carrying a bouquet of mixed chrys-
anthemums and fern. Mr. Stanley
Schellenherger, Sebringville,( broth-
er pf the bridegroom, was best man.
The ceremony was performed be-
neath an arch of pink and white
streamers and bells and the same
color scheme was carried out in the
dining room. The bride's table was
centred with a large wedding Bake
and vases of white mums. Misses
Ruth Arbogast, Gladys Rata, and
Marie Meyers, cousins of the bridal
couple, served dinner to 20 guests.
The bridegroom's gift to the brides-
maid was a compact, and to the
groomsman a billfold, while the
waitresses received gifts of china.
The bride donned a British blue
crepe dress with black coat and ac-
cessories for a honeymoon trip to
'Kitchener, • Hamilton and other
-centres.

humor provided those present with a

Mrs, Doig gave a report on the knit-
ting. Mrs. Workman gave a report on
the quilts. Mrs, Alex McGregor gave
a report on the sewing, and Mrs.
Glenn Slavin a report on the jam,
Mrs, J. W, McLean gave a financial
report. The collection for overseas
boxes -made in the .community
amounted to 9148.50.
The December meeting of the -Kip-
pen East Women's Institute will be
held at the home of Mrs. Lou Clark
on Wednesday, Dec. 1st at 2.30. The
roll call will be a reducing hint. ,
