Arnold Circle Meets --
The September meeting of the
Arnold Circle of Carmel Presbyterian
Church was held at the home of Miss
Violet Hyde on Friday evening with
Mrs. A. Orr co -hostess and the presi-
dent Mrs. Melvin Moir presiding.
The meeting opened by singing"Coma
Let 'CTs Sing of a Wonderful Love"
followed by prayer by Mrs, Jack Far-
quhar. The Scripture was read by
Mrs. Chas. Forrest and "0 Master
Let Me Walk With Thee,” was sung.
The business. offering and payment
of birthday fees followed..The topic
cu "Hungarians" was ably takeu by
Miss Beryl Pilaff, The meeting closed
by singing "Just as I ani," and the
Lord's prayer in unison.
Miss Ellen Fremlin of the staff of
the Bank of Montreal is enjoying a
two weeks' vacation at her Home in

"Pot Luck" Supper
The initial Fall meeting of the
Hensel] Senior Institute was held at
the lovely hone of Mrs. John C. Bell

the Ode. followed by the Lord's
prayer. The minutes were read and
adopted. The roll call was answered
by "A Riddle." Work sheet was pass-
ed, and the collection taken. The
Christmas boxes for the soldiers were
discussed. These must be packed in
October. Plans are under way to
raise money for this worthy cause in
the near future, Miss Greta Lantmie
then gave a report of the jam pro-
ject to date. The special collection

M. S. of Carmel Presbyterian Church
was held in the school -room of the
church on Thursday afternoon with
Mrs. Jas. Parkins presiding and
opened by singing the 23rd Psalm,'
"The Lord Is My Shepherd," after
which Mrs. C, Hudson led in prayer. )
Mrs, Parkins read a poem written
by Miss Pauline Johnson, an Indian'
writer, Mrs. Wrn. Sangster read the
23rd Psalm and Mrs. Parkins read
the Indian version of the same. The
roll call was answered with "Shep-,
herd", the text word. Mrs, Malcolm
Dougall and Mrs, Andrew Dougall
sang a duet entitled ""'ace to Face."
Miss Margaret Dougall accompanied
at the piano. Mrs. Parkins in a Very

Senior Mission Circle Meets
The Senior Mission. Circle of the
United Church commenced their fall.
meetings with a delicious "Pot -Luck,'
supper et 6.30 p.m, on Monday even-
ing when Mrs, Byron Kyle was host-
ess olid Mrs. H. IreLarnon co -hostess,
Miss Margaret Shepherd presided,.
and the program opened with the
theme song We have a Joyful Sound.
The Scripture lesson Luke 10, 33.42,
was read by Mrs, H. MaLarnon, Miss
Gladys Luker led in prayer and "I
Hear Thy Welcome Voice," was sting.
The devotional, "Who Is My Neigh-
bor?" was, taken by Mrs. Lorne Chap-
man. The minutes were read and of-
fering received. The topic "Comnnm-
ity bTeigltborliness" was very ably
taken. by Miss Ellis. Business was
discussed, The following committee
was appointed to make arrangements
for a bazaar to be held Nov, 27. Mrs,
B. Kyle, Mrs. AicLarnon, in an effort
to raise money for, the Circle funds,
It was decided to meet weekly at the
home of Miss Ellis to complete plans
Pertaining to the bazaar. Members
are aslant to take scissora, needles
thimbles and a collection of used cot-
ton rags (all kinds), also rayons or
woollen materials. Hymn "What .A
Friend We Have in Jesus" was sting
followed by the Mizpah benediction.
A hearty vote of thanks was ex.
tended to the hostess. The remainder
of the evening was spent playing a
variety of games after which the en-
joyable event ended.
Harvest Thanksgiving services will
be held in St. Paul's Anglican Church
on Sept, 19th 'at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m, In
