sant trip to the West.
The Late Mr. Geo. W, Ferguson
One of Hensa.11's oldest residents 1
passed away at his home here Mon-
day morning in the person of Mr.
George W. Ferguson in his S$th
year, following a lengthy illness. The,
deceased farmed for a number of
years in Usborne Township, coming
to Hensall several years ago. Surviv-
ing are his widow, formerly Ann An-
derson, one daughter, Mrs, • Thomas
Ferguson (Victoria), Seaforth, and
one son George Robert, of London,
three grandchildren, Miss Violet
Hyde (at home), Mr. Harvey Hyde,
Usborne, and Mrs. Elgin Nott, Sea -
forth, also one sister, Mrs. MacMartin
in St. Catharines. A private funeral
service was held from the late resid-
ence on Wednesday at 2 p.n1. Inter-
ment in Hensall Union Cemetery.
McKILLOP
On August 11 Mrs. Michael Doyle
in hei' 35th year passed away after a
lengthy illness at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Joseph Downey, Mc-
Killop, with whom she made her
hone the past six years. Mrs. Doyle
was a member of the pioneer family
of Mr, and Mrs, Thomas Murphy,
Hibbert, and was married 58 years
ago to Michael Doyle, who predeceas-
ed her in 1936. Mrs, Doyle was out-
standing for her kindliness and
neighborliness and had a wide circle
of friends who will mourn her loss.
Surviving are three daughters, Sr.
M. Francesca of Windsor, Mrs, Jos-
eph Downey, McKillop, and Mrs.
Frank Jordan, Hibbert, and three
sons, James of Detroit, Gerald, of
Tnscon, Arizona, and Patrick of
Cleveland, Ohio, and 24 grandchild.

Father O'Drowski, St. COlumbau, on
August 13tH, with Father Hussey and
Father Purcell present in the sanctu-
ary. The pall bearers were Joseph
Dorsey, Richard Downey, James
Doyle, Thomas Doyle, Peter Jordan,
and Ralph Murphy. Interment was
made. in St, Columban cemetery,
Those attending the funeral from a
distance were Mr. and Mrs. 'P, F,
Doyle, Cleveland, Ohio, Mr, and Mrs,
3' J. Doyle, Miss Mary Doyle, and the
Misses Anne and Clare Jordan, all of
Detroit.

Speir reeeiveil his education in the

he unlisted in September, 1940, in
Toronto with the RCAF, training at
Toronto, St, Hubert, Que., Crumlin'

his wings at Uplandsand was com-
missioned as pilot officer: He went
overseas the following month and.
early in 1942 was promoted to the
rank of flying officer. On August 10,
1942, he was first reported missing.
I,n letters to his parents, Flying Offic-
er Speir told of being on operations
over enemy territory and of partici-
pating in the four agave raids on
Essen end • Cologne, Flying Officer
Speir was married on July 1, 1942,
to the former Jean Fowler who re-
sides in Hendon, near London, Eng-
land. Surviving are his parents, his
wife, one brother, Leading Aircraft -
man Kenneth now stationed at Monc-
ton, N,B., and three sisters: Miss
Helen, Toronto, and Misses Laura
and Margaret at home,
Funeral Held at Clinton ---,
The funeral was held Tuesday af-
ternoon, from the Beattie funeral
home in Clinton, of Nelson Reichert,
aged 56, a resident for the past 10
years of the Huron County Honie,
whose death occurred Monday at the
home, He was born in Hensall and
had few relations living, having been
predeceased by his parents and never
having married. For the past nine
years hie had been the county home
barber, that having been his occupa-
tion previously. The funeral service
was conducted by Rev, A, E. Silver,
and interment took place in Clinton
cemetery.
