Union presented their play Civil Ser-
vice, in Varna Hall on June 2nd, and
we 'must say it was a success, and

dogs must purchase 1943 licenses for same on or before
June 14, 1943. Licenses will be issued from the Treasurer's
Offlce•in the Town Hall.
After thatdate summonses through* the Court will be.
issued to the owners or harbourers of dbgs not having
licenses.
A11 dogs must weal' license tags.
Many complaints have been received about dogs
damaging gardens and flower beds. Owners orharbourers
are personally responsible and, if necessary, dogs will not.

Mr. Robt, Orr was taken suddenly
ill on Saturday evening arid taken to
Clinton hospital where he underwent
an operation for appendicitis. His
many friends hope for a speedy re-
covery.
The many friends of Mrs.', Mur-
dock Ross, are sorry to hear of her
continued illness. Her daughter, Mrs.
Bassett of Buffalo and Mrs. David-
son of Woodstock, are with her,
Miss Nora' Ferguson, who spent
the winter in London .arrived home
on Saturday,

Moore of London spent the week

LONDESBORO
What could have been a very ser-
ious accident occurred on Thursday
night at the ball game held in Blyth.
The, game was between the Londes-
boro and Blyth boys. Alex. Menzies
was struck on the head accidentally
with a bat. He was knocked uncon-
scious and was rushed ti? Clinton
hospital where it was found necess-
ary to put fifteen stitches in his
forehead to close the wound, He re-
mained in hospital until Sunday ev-
ening when he was removed to his
home where he is recovering from
his painful accident as well as can be
expected. He is the second son of
Rev. A. E. Menzies, pastor of the
United Church,
Mrs. Eric Allen has been quite ill
with an attack of the mumps and is
with her mother, Mrs, Annie Fother-
gill. Mr, Allen spent the week end
with them.
Mrs. H. Lyon has returned, having
spent the past two weeks at the home
