BLYTH
The Radio Farm Forum was held
at the home of Mr, and Mrs. P. J.
Kelly, on Feb, 22, with the attend-
ance of 31. Tho meeting was opened
by our capable leader, Mrs, Torrance
Dundas, after which Mr. Robert Wal-
lace gave a very inspiring talk on
farm ownership. After the business
part of the meeting the remaining
time was pent in progressive euchre,
First prize was won by Miss Mary
Laidlaw, consolation prize by Miss
Catherine McDonald, Others played
crokinole. Luneit was served. The
evening closed with God Save the
King.

Petrolia hospital, has resigned and
accepted a position in Brantford

relatives in London recently,
The W. M. S, has planned to hold
the Women's World Day of Prayer
on the afternoon of Friday the 12th
at the hone' of Mrs, Isaac Tarrott, In
these war days prayer is as neces-
sary as providing for our fighting
men — the inspiration of the uplifted
hands and headed knees as well as
the busy lingers that kuit and sew.

had the misfortune of a' bone break-
ing fall on an icy street.
Mrs. W. W. Cooper was taken to
Seaforth hospital at the beginning of
the week. Friends wish her a speedy
recovery.
Jean and Arthur Long are spending
the week at home in the 'absence of
their mother , who is undergoing
treatments at St. Joseph's hospital,
London.
The services on Sunday will be
conducted by the minister who an-
nounced he will discuss "A Disciple's
Shadow."

the Postal Corps of Ottawa spent a
four day leave at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Quer-
engesser.
Mrs. Wm. Barth of Marble Rock,
ivrith., is visiting her sisters, Mrs.
George Riekmier and Mrs. Fred
Herbert.
Private Wilfred Diegel of the Art-
illery, son of Mr. 'and Mrs. Henry E.
Diegel, has been transferred from
Listowel to Three Rivers, Quebec,
Harold W. Diegel, deputy receiver
of supplies for ration book No. 2,
was capably assisted by Mrs. John
G. Hinz, Mrs. George Mogk, Mrs.
Dalton Hinz and Mrs. Russell Sltold-
ice and Mrs. Harold Diegel as assist-
ant deputy chief. The ladies issued
upwards of 800 books in a most ef-
ficient manner,

Mrs. Malcolm Toms left on Tues-
day to visit Mr. and Mrs, Guest and
family in Toronto.

Rev. J. K. West of Monkton deliv-
ered a fine sermon 111 Cromarty Pres-
byterian Church on Sunday after-
noon. The attendance was poor owing
to the recent storm and very ' bad
roads, The service was held in the
church basement.
The attendance from here at the
Staffa Young People's meeting was
not as large as usual owing to almost
impassable roads,
The Women's Missionary Society
will be held on Thursday afternoon,
Private Frank Scott, Toronto, at
his home here.
Mr. and' Mrs. Roy McCulloch ent-
ertained the neighbors to a progres-
sive euchre party when about forty
were present, The proceeds of the
games went to war work and Russian
relief.

The W. A. of St. John's Anglican
Church met Thursday afternoon at
the home of Mrs, M. Reid when a
quilt was quilted at the close of the
meeting. Arrangements were made
for the World's Day of Prayer, which
will be held in St. John's Anglican
Church on Friday afternoon, March
12th, with Mrs. (Rev,) Jno, Graham
and Rey. Reba Hera as leaders. Meet-
ing was closed by scripture reading,
followed by the members' prayer in
unison, Benediction by rector, Rev.
John , Graha.m. A hot supper was
by hostess.

TUCKERSMITH
Franklin Chester Hunter died at
his home, 190 Albert street, Strat-
ford, Saturday afternoon after all-
ing for some years. Born in Tucker-
smitir township on August 23, 1887,
the departed man was 50 years of
age. He was a son of the late M.
and Mrs, Simon Hunter who also liv-
ed in Usborne township. Mr. Hunter'
had farmed in Tucket'sinith, near
Hensall, until coming to Stratford
about 20 years ago. He had been
employed in the former Moore -Bell
Furniture Co. Mr. Hunter attended
Central United Church, Besides his
wife, -the former Laura Sims of Cre-
diton, the late Mr. Hunter is surviv-
ed by one son, Russell, who is over-
seas with the Royal Canadian Ord-
nance Corps and one daughter, Hel
en, at home. The funeral took place
on Monday to Avondale cemetery,
Stratford, Rev. David Wren, minis-
ter of Central United Church, offic-
iated. The pallbearers were Harry
Grief, Stratford; Murray Neil, Cen-
tralia; Eli Sims,. Crediton; Everitt
Sinic,'Everitt Skinner and Bruce
Cooper, all of Exeter.

Forum held their March 151 meeting
at the bonne of Mr, and M.N. WM. H.
McLean, with a good attendance de-
spite the unfavorable weather. Miss
Smith conducted an muting and
educational contest. The next meet-
ing Will be Held at the Monte of Mr,
and Mrs. Joe McLellan on March 8.
Lunch was served by the hostess. A
vote of thanks was tendered Mr. and
Mrs. McLean by Edison Forrest.

evening with an attendance of 21.
After the business and discussions
were over 0 contest was conducted
by Mrs. Chipchase and Miss T. Smith,
which was very much enjoyed Euchre
followed, A delicious lunch was serv-
ed by the hostess. The next meeting
will be held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Wnt, Ii, McLean on March Sth.
A vote of thanks was tendered Mr.
and Mrs, McGregor.
CONSTANCE
Meeting of W. M. S. was held in
the church Monday, Feb. 22nd, Mrs.
Lindsay' presiding. We have heard the
joyful sound, was sung, Mrs, Lind-
say offered prayer, Business was
transacted, Mrs. IHttgitl gave a read-
ing on the fate of an African boy.
Mrs. 'Nottingham gave atm interesting
story from the study book on whole-
some recreation. Offering was receiv-
ed. Mrs. Montgomery closed meeting
with prayer.
On Monday evening. March 1, the
farm forum met at the Route of Mr.
and Mrs, Charles Dexter, After a live
ly discussion period the remainder of
the evening was spentin games and
music. About 25 were present,
