spent the holiday visiting with his
parents in the village and his wife's
parents on the 13th of Mullett.

In St. John's Anglican Church,
Brussels, on Saturday, Dec. 26th, at
4 p.m. by Rev. M. F. Oldham, Mina
Beatrice, youngest daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Bryans, of Brussels,
to John Fletcher Howard, son of Mr.
and , Mrs. Robert J. Howard of Gode-
rich. Mrs. Herb Stretton, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor and
Mr, Joseph R. Murphy of Goderich
was best man. A wedding reception
and dinner was held at the home of
the bride's parents. The bride was
formerly teacher of the Belgrave
Public School. They will reside in
Toronto at 23a Classic Ave., where
the groom has a position as Radio
Inspector.
Christmas Services were held in
St. George's Church, Walton, on Sun-
days, Dec. 20 and 27, with the Rec-
tor, Rev, M. F. Oldham, in charge.
The sermon on Dec. 20th was based
on the Message of the Angel, St.
Luke 2, 10, and on Dec. 27th, St
John's Day, on the life and work 0
the beloved disciple of Jesus, who
has given us the Gospel of St. John
the 1st, and and 3rd General Epistles
of John and the Revelation in the
New Testament. The church was
nicely decorated with evergreens
Miss Emma. Sanderson officiated a
the organ.
Mrs. Hazelwood's father and nto
ther, Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Lean
of .Apsley, are visiting at the manse
during the Christmas holidays.
A day of prayer for the nation will
be observed in Duff's United Church,
Walton, on Sunday, January 3rd,
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kearney of
Brussels spent Christmas at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kearney,
the former's brother.
Miss Jean McDonald of Toronto
spent Christmas at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. McDonald,
16th con. of Grey.
Mt. Jas, McColl, who is training at
. Montreal, spent the holiday at his
home, 9th con. of Morris.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dow and dau-
ghters of Hibbert spent Christmas at
the home of Mrs. Dow's parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Kearney.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Hollinger of
Hamilton, and son Charles, spent the
holidays at the hone of her parents,
Mr, and Mrs. Charles Pollard.
Mr. Cameron of Lanark County, is
visiting his daughter, Mrs. Lawson
Kearney.
Mr. Albert Kreuter, who is in
training at Toronto, visited the homes
of his uncles, Jas. and John Mc-
Donald.
Misses Ida, Agnes and Evelyn Dun-
das of Toronto, and Corporal Frank
Dundas of Mountain View, spent the
Christmas holidays at the home of
their parents, Mr, and Mrs. George
Dundas, in McKillop.
Mrs . Mary Dressel, Misses Edith
and Anna Ennis, Cosby Ennis of the
RCAF, and Robert McMillan of Tor-
onto, spent the holidays at the home
of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Ennis.
Mr. and Mrs. McGregor of Wing -
ham spent Christmas with the lat-
ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W.
Hoy.
Mr. Walter Bewley, of Ipperwash
Camp, who is in training, is spending
the holidays at the hone of his par-
ents, 8th line Morris.
Mrs. O. Steiss of Welland spent
the week end at her home here, and
entertained her children and their
families for Xmas. •
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carter and son
John of Welland spent the week end
with relatives in and around Walton.
Mr. Joe Gilkinson spent the week
end at Listowel with his mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hoy and Esther
spent Xmas at her parents, R. A.
Allan's, Goderich.
Wedding bells are again ringing in
Walton for New Year's Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bryans and
sons of Fingal spent Xmas at his fa-
ther's, Harry Bryans, Brussels, and
called in Walton.

BAYFIELD
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Rhynas and
sons, Phillip and John of Toronto
spent Christmas with Mrs. Oliver
Rhynas, John and Phillip remaining
for a week or ten days.
The Red Cross Society gave a
party for four village boys who have
volunteered to serve their King and
Country. Miss M. Stirling, president,
presided and extended the good
wishes and congratulations to the '
boys. Mrs. M. Prentice and Mrs. E,
Bassett on behalf of the Society
presented the gifts to William Rob-
inson, RCAF, Merton Merner, RCN -
VR, Private Keith Geminhardt and
Private Joseph Wild. Dancing and
light refreshments followed the pres-
entations. Before signing up Mr.
WilliamRobinson was a faithful and
ardent worker for the Red Cross,
never failing to give his services and
his truck when the salvage drive and
other work demanded willing hands.

Owing to the illness of Rev. John
Graham there was no service in St.
John's Anglican Church Sunday.
Mr. C. C. Pilgrim, Mr. and Mrs. C.
Pilgrim Jr. and son Billy with friends
in Clinton.
There was a good turn out of town-
ship electors met in the hall Monday,
Several nominees were proposed but
we are inclined to think our worthy
Reeve, Mr. Watson and his staff, will
hold their seats with the exception of
Mr. 'Falconer who was injured.
The death of Mrs. Ralph Stephen-
son took place in Scott Memorial
Hospital, Seaforth, on Sunday, Dec.
20th, The late Mr's. Stephenson had
been in failing health for several
months with a heart condition, from
which she had suffered much with
great patience. Deceased was a wo-
man of more than ordinary intellig-
ence, and In her younger days was an
ardent and active member of the Sal-
vation Army and in 1908 she gave
up her uniform in Parry Sound. In
addition to this strenuous work she
taught school iu the Canadian West,
and in Ontario as well, and was laud-
ed; by her pupils. As a church and
missionary worker she had few
equals, and will be greatly missed in
these circles where she was always
welcomed. The funeral was held
Tuesday from her late residence,
Parr Line, to the United Church,
where her pastor, Rev. Reba Hern,
paid high tribute to the life of the
departed. Her favorite hymns, "Safe
in the arms of Jesus" and "Jesus
Lover of my soul," were' sung. Form-
erly Isabella Fell, she was born in
Hibbert Township, Staffa Line, in
1868, and in 1916 was united in wed-
lock to her now bereaved husband,
who mourns the loss of a kind and
loving wife, and has the sympathy
of the community. She is survived by
one brother and one sister. Pallbear-
ers were Geo. and Alfle Johnston,
Lorne and Harvey Coleman, Geo.
Reid and Ed Foster, Iyer own choice.

and Mrs. W. J. Claris, Goshen Line,
during which Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Keys of the Babylon Line, were pre-
sented with a beautiful cabinet of
silver, in honor of their 26th wed-
ding anniversary,

The December meeting of W.M.S.
met at Mrs. P. March's with twelve
members present. Mrs, Pooley pre-
sided and followed the candle -lighting
program' in the Miss. Monthly. A
slumber of the lovely Christmas
hymns were used. Mrs. Ford and
Mrs, R. Batten read Christmas art-
icles. Mrs. S. Brock read a temper-
ance reading "Are you a typist?" It.
was decided to hold our annual soc-
ial evening in January and the exec-
utive will meet at Mrs. E. Skinner's
on Jan. 6th to arrange 1943 meet-
ings..
The W.A. held their Christmas
meeting at Mrs. H. Bells on Thurs-
day, Dec. 17. Nineteen members
were present. Mrs. J. Woods had
charge of a fine program. Santa
Claus paid a visit and left gifts for
all. Lunch' was served at the close.

Rev. G: }E. Morrow of Burford, for-
merly of the McKillop Charge, has
been called as chaplain in the RON
at the Eastern coast early in January.
Rev. Mr, Morrow has been at Burford
for 21/a years and was previously at
•Tlredford since leaving McKillop.
Mrs. Morrow and son', Bobby, and her
mother, Mrs. Hart of Regina, intend
residing in London.
KIPPEN
Gerald. Parsons was taken to Vict-
oria. Hospital last Saturday but is
expected back this week.
Mrs. Linden of Denfleld is visiting
at Mr. and Mrs. Archie Parsons'.
