SUPERFLUOUS HAIR
Superfluous hair is an affliction to
many women, and in these Warm
days tends to worry an increasing
number, for warm weather increases
the growth, even with some women
not normally 'subject to it.
Readers ask; "Can this blemish be
Permanently removed?". Electrolysis
is a method which needs to be car-
ried out by really competent and ex-
pert operators to be effective and
harmless. A new wax, which can be
used in the priacy of one's own home,
has given excellent results and I
have no hesitation in recommending
its use; it is safe and effective. I'1l
gladly tell you more about it if you
will write me.
It is important to remember that a
razor should not be used to remove
superfluous hair from the face. It
can be used trader the armpits, but
that is about all. Don't imagine, too,
that peroxide will curtail growth. It
is simply a bleaching agent, and if
you have but a slight growth on the
face, a peroxide bleach might be all
you require. Here is the recipe: Mix
three tablespoons of peroxide with
six drops of ammonia. If your skin is
very tender, add another tablespoon
of peroxide. Apply with a clean piece
of absorbent cotton and allow to dry
on the face.
Many readers show worry about
the soap and creams they use. Really
good creams and soaps will never
cause hair to grow, but you can be
quite free fro mworry on this score
if you make a habit of washing with
gentle palmolive• soap, and use the
delightful three -purpose cream for
your skin.

During one of his recent "So You
Want to Lead a Band" sessions
Orchestra Leader Sammy Kaye
handed the baton to a high school
lad with the usual remark that from
the moment he began t owave the
baton until he had finished, the boy
could consider the band his. "You
mean to say I'm actually hte band
leader now?" asked the lad.
"That's right," assured Kaye.
"Then, before I begin, I'd like to
hire my brother for the sax section
—he's been out of work for a few
months!"
GOVERNMENT INSURANCE
IN CASE or
WAR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
OWNERS OF PROPERTY ARE URGED TO
INSURE AGAINST LOSS BY ENEMY ACTION
The Government of Canada, by Act of Parliament, has set up a Plan of
War Risk Insurance against damage to property caused by enemy
action—by countermeasures taken against the enemy—by explosions of
war munitions handled by third parties.
In terms of general information, it may be stated that the Plan provides
a certain limited FREE COMPENSATION for damage to owner -occu-
pied homes and to chattels, but the main feature of the Plan is that
owners of most types of property can protect their property by PUR-
CHASE of GOVERNMENT WAR RISK INSURANCE at very moderate
rates. •
'This type of War Risk Insurance is not 'being sold today by private
insurance companies, because of the risk involved. Consequently, the
Government has established a national scheme to make it possible for
each citizen in Canada to purchase the sense of security that comes from
knowing that if his property does suffer war damage (and the war has
come much closer to Canada in the last twelve months) he can call on
the resources of Canada to help him make good his property loss.
HOW TO OBTAIN
GOVERNMENT WAR RISK INSURANCE
The Fire Insurance Agents and Companies of Canada have volunteered
to the Government the services of their extensive facilities and personnel,
on a non-profit basis, thus avoiding
the setting up of the large organiza-
tion that otherwise would be needed
to handle details of this nation-wide
Government War Risk Insurance
scheme.
