and a ham. Mrs. Wns Kyle was the

Mrs. George Glenn, Kippon, who was
in charge, thanked those present for
their attendance and announced that
Kippen W. L would sponsor another
event of the same kind in the near
future. A delightful lunch was serv-
ed, after which dancing was indulg-
ed in to music furnished by Mur-
doch's .'orchestra, Proceeds were for
war work.
The ;following knitting quota was
received by the Hensall Red Cross
Society reeently for 80 sweaters for
boys and girls, all homeless and
some have lost both parents in air
raids. The society is anxious to have
these finished as quickly as possible,
and ask that all wool be washed be-
fore knitting and should be wound
very loosely as tight winding spoils
the elasticity and ruins the wool.
Miss Margaret Tudor of Dundas
spent the week end with her parents
Mr, and Mrs. Stan Tudor, She was
accompanied by the following friends
also from Dundas: Miss Mary Ste-
wart, Pat Paterson, Miss Helen Du-
long, Miss Jessie Leyden, Miss Betty
Tubb, Maurice Tudor of Galt also
spent the week end here accompan-
ied by Clifford Kartes, Galt, and Don
Barr, Vancouver. who has

spent part of the winter in Toronto,
returned home recently.
June Sundercoek was rushed to
Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on
Thursday of last week and underwent
an operation for appendicitis, She is
under the care of Dr. D. G. Steer.
Mr, and Mrs, Alfred Smith and
family moved into town last week,
Mrs, C. A. McDonell is spending a
couple of weeks visiting with her
daughter and son-in-law Mr. and
Mrs. Laughton in Toronto.
Mr. Donald Wacker, who recently
returned from overseas, has secured
a good position with the Canadian
National Express Co. in Toronto.
Miss Pearl Harpole of London
spent the week end with her mother
Mrs. Grace Harpole.
The WCTU Hensall-Exeter union
held their March meeting in the
schoolroom auditorium of the United
Church Thursday afternoon 26th,
Mrs. R. A. Brook in the chair for the
devotional period. The opening hymn,
"All people that on earth do dwellI,
followed with the Lord's prayer,
scripture lesson, Hosea 14th chapter.
Rescue the Perishing, was the next
hymn sung, after which Mrs. Consitt
presided. Rev. R. A. Brook, guest
speaker, presented a most informat-
ive address an "Liquor and War Ef-
ficiency," Miss Murray expressed
thanks to Mr. Brook for the wonder-
ful message he gave, and expressed
hope that he will present this ad-
dress at some future date again. The
roll call was responded to with
"Peace." It was disclosed that two

the local branch of the Red
Cross. A letter was read from Miss
Eva Penrose expressing appreciation
of sympathy extended to her in the
death of her father. Arrangements
were made for the visit to the
County of Huron early in May, of
Miss Duff, Provincial Field secretary
of the WCTU of Ontario. Miss Duff
will visit the three unions, Wingham,
Goderich, tied Hensall-Exeter. She
will also present a film senior pro-
ject, an added feature in connection
with her visit. Mrs, T. J. Sherritt
rendered a pleasing solo, "Nearer,
still nearer," Miss Irene Douglas, ac-
companist. A report prepared by
Mrs. W. C. Pearce on the cigarette
question was given by Miss Consitt.

home of her son Mervyn in Tucker -

of December Mrs. Lane had been in
