Mrs, Peter Moir, prominent Hen
salt reeideet, died at her home late
Monday "afternoon. the result of a
stroke which she suffered on Sunday
from which she Railed to rally, She
was ,the former Annie McAllister.
She isurvived by her husband, two
sons, Clifford and Melvin, of Hensel],
four daughters, Rosie (Mrs, Pass-
more), of Usbor'ne; Annie (Mrs, Os-
car Tuckey), of near Exeter; Pearl,
(Mrs. Lawrence Eaynham) of Hen-
sel', and Helen, at home two broth-
ers, Dr. Arthur McAllister, of George-
town, and Charles McAllister, of .To-
ronto. She was a member of Carmel
Presbyterian Church. The funeral
which was private, was held from
the home on Wednesday at 2.30 p,m,
to Hensall Union Cemetery,
A pretty wedding was solemnized
recently in Ste. Cecile Cathedral,
Valleyfield, Quebec, by Monsigneur
Luger, when Isobel, eldest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs, George Smale, of
Hensall, became the bride of Clarence
W. Farwell, only son of Mr, and Mrs,
George K, Farwell, of Zurich. The
bride wore a street length dress of
old gold french corded crepe with
small hat to match, brown tulle veil
falling to the shoulders and brown
accessories and bouquet of butterfly
roses. The young couple will reside

The regular monthly meeting of
the Hensall W. I. was held at the
hone of Mrs, (Rev.) Weir on Wed-
nesday evening, March 11th, with the
president Miss Beryl Pfaff, in the
chair. The guest, speaker of the even
ing was Mrs, Wilson Broadfoot, who
gave a very interesting talk on Home
Economics in regard to present day
conditions, Mrs. Broadfoot, (the for-
cer Maud McLean) was a very active
member of the Heusall W. I. before
her marriage and also was president
for a time. The April meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs, W. A. Mac -
Laren.
The regular monthly meeting of
the W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian
Church was held in the schoolroom
of the church on Thursday, March 12,
at 3 p.m. Mrs. A. 11, McEwen had
charge of the meeting which was
opened by singing hymn Faith of Our
Fathers, followed by the Red Cross
prayer in unison. The scripture les-
son, Hebrews, 11 chapt„ was read by
Mrs. McCully, The roll call was an-
swered by a verse of scripture on
Faith, Mrs. Annie Logan and Mrs.
Parkins reported having made eigh-
teen calls on the sick and shut-in.
Mrs. C. Hudson and Mrs. Walker will
be the visiting committee for April.
The following were appointed to
take charge of the next two meetings,
Mrs. R. Y. MacLaren, Mrs. D. Park,
Mrs, Manson and Mrs. A. Dougall.
The April meeting will be a very
special one as it is the W. M. S.
Easter Thankoffering. The date will
be Wednesday, April 22, The guest
speaker will be Miss Laura Pelpon,
of Blyth. Miss Pelpon is an outstand-
ing speaker. She will address the
Arnold Circle on the previous even-
ing. Hymn 419 was sung, after which
Mrs. R. Y. MacLaren led in prayer.
Mrs. W. A. MacLaren conducted a
Bible quiz. The topic, Service, was
taken by Mrs, Workman. Hymn 531,
How firm a foundation, was sung,
followed by the Lord's prayer. There
was a splendid attendance at the
meeting,
A community dinner sponsored by
the Tucker'smith Federation of Agri-
culture and the Hensall Chamber of
Commerce, will be held in the town
hall, Hensall, on Friday evening,
March 20, at 6.30. R. J. Scott of Bel -
grave, will be the speaker. Tickets
may be purchased from the following:

McLean, Ivan Forsythe, R. Tyndall,
I. O'Leary, W. Broadfoot, W, Crich
and Jim McIntosh. The members of
the Hensall W.I. will serve dinner.

London, Wed., March 11, to Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Elder, of Hensall, a
daughter,
The annual birthday party of the
W.M.S. of the United Church was
held in the school room of the church
on Tuesday, March 17, at 3 p.m.
There was a splendid attendance of
members and guests which included
the W.M.S. of Chiselhurst, The presi-
dent Mrs. W. B. Cross was in the
chair and gave the welcome. Com-
munity singing directed by Miss
Greta Lammie with Mrs. Sherritt at
the piano. The guest speaker was
Rev. Reba Hern, of Varna United.
Church, who gave a splendid address
on "Interrupted Power." Mrs. Albert
Sherray contributed a pleasing piano
solo, a vocal solo by Joyce Broderick,,
accompanied by Mrs. Broderick, voc-
al duet by Doris and Lloyd Buch-
anan. Readings were given by Miss
Ellis and Lenore 'Norminton. The
school room was beautifully decorat-
ed for the occasion by Mrs. Drysdale,
Mrs. R. J. Paterson and Mrs, Mickle.
Program committee, Mrs. Cross and
Mrs. Sherritt. Among the numbers
heard during the community singing
were "The more we get together,"
"Peggy O'Neal" "When Irish eyes are
smiling," "My wild Irish rose," and
"The wearing of the green."

Violet Hyde, The scripture lesson
was read by Miss Mildred Hackney.

by Mrs. George Moir, Hymn 381,
"Zions King shall reign victorious."
The minutes were read and adopted,
followed by roll call and offering, It
was decided to have a sausage and
bean supper on March 31. The topic,
Suffering Human and Divine, was
given by Mies Ruth Mollvenna, The
meeting closed with hyinn 371, "0
Spirit of the living God," and the
benediction. A dainty lunch was serv-
ed by the hostess.

on Sunday with friends in and around

Miss Edna Walsh spent a day in

Miss Hazel Smillie of Atwood spent

Mr. Frank Farquhar, who had the
misfortune to break a bone in his
ankle while attending a hockey
match in Seaforth recently, is rest-
ing comfortably at his home. Mr,

ing gravel and delivering same en

quired and as directed by the Super-
intendent in charge.

7000 yds. and must go through a 34
inch screen. Work to commence not
later than June 1st, 1942.

supervision and to the satisfaction of
the Superintendent. All Tenders to
