ceived further information regarding
ad the bean situation. With reference to
Is canned beans, the boat space is too
ck valuable and material too hard to
secure. With reference to the purch-
ase of dry beans by the British Min,
tstry of Food we have been informed
that, the transportation of 10,000 thus
of beans from Capada during the
calendar year; 1942 has been fully ap-
proved and authorized and that it is
proposed to make the purchases
through normal channels and to time
them to lit in with shipping arrange-
ments. This indicates that it is the
intention of the British Ministry to
deal directly, through the tradein the
same way as has. ,been done In previ-
ous years. We have reason to believe
that the price will be about the same
as last year,

A lovely wedding was solemnized' at
the United Church parsonagd, Credit-

ciated for the marriage of Beatrice
Gerber of Heneall, daughter df Mr.
and Mrs, Moses Gerber of Hay town-
ship, and Laverne Richard Heywood,
son of Mrs and Mrs. Gordon Heywood
of Exeter. The bride looked lovely in
a Cala blue street length dress;' with
matching accessories. She carried a
bouquet of American Beauty roses,
She was attended by her sister, Mrs,
Albert Clauslus of Zurich, wearing a
street -length dress of blue crepe, and

ceremony a wedding dinner was held
at the home of the bride's parents,
with 25 guests present, The house

The Victory Loan concert sponsor-
ed by the junior Red Cross of Hen-
sel' public school,. which was postpon-
ed from an earlier date, was held on
Tuesday evening, March 10th. Mr.
Claude Blowes, principal of the pub-
lic school, opened the concert with
a few witty remarks, after which the
pupils of Miss Beryl Pfaff's room IF YOU HAVE LAND FOR RENT
gave a humorous number, "Belling
the Cat." Much amusement was
caused by the way the little folks
marched around dressed up like mice
and sang "Who's Afraid of the Cat," l
but their courage failed them when
the cat was heard. The second num-;
ber, "Tom Boy Joe," was given by
Miss Ellis' pupils who had a half hol-
iday and did not know how to spend
it.The girls decided they would go
picking flowers, the boys thought
they would go fishing. The part of
Tom Boy Joe was well taken by Ber-
nice Jinks who sang several numbers
alone and also accompanied by the
others. While roaming through the
woods she met a tramp who turned
out to be her own father. The last
number, "Sleeping Beauty," was of
a patriotic nature and was presented
by the pupils of Mr. Blowes' room.
The provinces were represented by
girls and boys. All joined in singing
"0 Canada," and other numbers.
The national anthem brought the
concert to a close. Mr. S. G. Rennie,
musical director, presided at the
piano throughout.
