The first real cold snap of the winter touched the district this week with the temperature hovering as low as six below zero. High wind and drifting snow gave the appear- ance of an old time blizzard but so far no roads have been reported and all main highways .have remain- ed clear, only a couple of inches of snow having fallen. Mr. Bill Sproat returned home from Toronto where he spent a very pleasant vacation with relatives. Mr. Grant announced the beginning of a series of sermons on the Lord's prayer on Sunday first. On Friday evening last a service was held which combined both the preparatory service and also a Meet- ing for national prayer as requested by the King and President Roosevelt, The cold weather in this first week of the New Year is giving the child- ren returning to their schools a very chill reception. The topic, "Steering or Drifting" was presented and discussed. Rev, W. Schultz will conduct a series of bible studies during the year at each Sunday evening on the Book of Acts. He also gave a very interesting reading on "The other Wise Mau." The meeting closed with the Lord's prayer and the national anthem.
