spending the Christmas holidays

The first real cold snap of the
winter touched the district this
week with the temperature hovering
as low as six below zero. High wind
and drifting snow gave the appear-
ance of an old time blizzard but so
far no roads have been reported
and all main highways .have remain-
ed clear, only a couple of inches of
snow having fallen. Visibility was
poor on the highways.

Mrs. Andrew Bell during the week.
Mr. Bill Sproat returned home
from Toronto where he spent a very
pleasant vacation with relatives.
The Mission Band is planning to
hold its first meeting of the year
with its new officers on Sunday first.
• The sacrament of the Lord's Sup-
per was dispensed en Sunday last
with the minister in charge. Mr.
Grant announced the beginning of a
series of sermons on the Lord's
prayer on Sunday first.
On Friday evening last a service
was held which combined both the
preparatory service and also a Meet-
ing for national prayer as requested
by the King and President Roosevelt,
The cold weather in this first week
of the New Year is giving the child-
ren returning to their schools a very
chill reception.

anything requested?"
"Oh, yes, sir'."

The Luther League held their first
devotional meeting of the year on
Sunday evening in the basement of
the church with 35 present, Edgar
Elligson being in charge. The topic,
"Steering or Drifting" was presented
and discussed. Rev, W. Schultz will
conduct a series of bible studies
during the year at each Sunday
evening on the Book of Acts. He also
gave a very interesting reading on
"The other Wise Mau." The meeting
closed with the Lord's prayer and
the national anthem.
