Any one, whether grower, jobber, wholeealer or retailer, wno sells or offers for sale potatoes in bags containing leas then 90 pounds is liable to a fine of $25. The lack of uniformity in the weight of bags of -potatoes has bean a griev- ance for years as in many oases bags of potatoes sold as being of standard weight proved, when actually weighed to contain as little as 74 pounds and in some oases even less, . While in most cases there was no wilful intent to de- fraud, yet the result to the consumer is the same, Phan many retailers receiving bags weighing less than 80 pounds instead of the full 90 required by law have mad& the evil worse when selling by the peok. Instead of giving 15 pomade to the peek many purchasers have found. that theyireoeived only 12, With the weight of a bushel of potatoes as 60 pounds there is no excuse for giving less than 15 pounds to a peck.
