Many of Them Merely Colored Bafc- ing Powder, Says Chief Analyst Ottawa, March 6.—The Ohief An- alyst of the inland Revenue Depart- ment has drawn attention to the fact that a number of articles, which aro eeeentially nothing more than baking powders, are od'ered for sale under names which involves the use of the word "egg". These articles, so far as they have '-been aualyted, contain a yellow dye evidently intended to sum - goats the presence of egg -yolk, and some of them also ocutain email amounts of powdered dessioated egg, ossein or gelatin, but in no ease is the quantity ao great as•to justify their be. ing offered as egg anbatitutea or egg powders. The Chief Analyst states that the Department interprets the phrase "egg powder" as being equivalent to .powder ed egg, and if other material than pow• dared egg is used in these articles, the label must show it, The use of yellow dye in any article'olailning to be pow dared egg or egg substitute fs consider. ed by the Department to constitute an adulteration of the article, unless it actually meets requirement)) for egg owder o r egg substitutes, "Within the Law's New York's most sensational Deana in four acts to be repeated by request on St. Patrick's Day M6 day Mr 189 1'91 at 8 p, n'l. sharp .Ardno's Opera Id it $dnaisFAo'fl e Reserve Seats 5Oc.
