Fireside Farm Forum
On Monday evening, Mr, and
Mrs {)Baser Anderson entertain-
ed the Fireside Farm Forum
when 18 adults attended. Topic
was "What Price Efficiency?"
.(1) Certainl farmers should
strive for efficiency to produce
a ,batter grade of• products at.
a lower cost, and also for their
own happiness and satisfaction
in their work. No doubt • if • all
farmers became more efficient
there would be more surplus
unless immigration increased. In
times of surplus prices drop and
farmers' income is lowered. We
need to cut the price of produc-
tion so we can compete With
other countries in being able .to
sell our ,products' more cheaply
to the spoor undernourished
people of other less fortunate
countries. Art present the farm-
er finds expenses very high.
+Machineary, transportation, war
gee and standard of living are
all costly, (2) Are there too
many farmers. We disagreed- on
this question but all -did agree
that capable farm help is too
scarce. There are many ineffici-
ent farmers. who if off the farm
would be in the class of eonsuln_
ere instead of producing a little
at high cost. The world 'till
•needs much more food for hun-
